I think that my career as a nursing assistant for many years is what started this. I think that I injured myself, didn't take care of it like I should have, so now I'm all sensitive everywhere and feel all this pain. Nurse aide work is nothing for the weary or hurting to try to accomplish. I know that you love it, have you ever contemplated getting into something else that would help the patients just as much as you do but w/o all the lifting, tugging, pulling, bending, stretching, reaching, etc...I know you know, LOL. I would love to go back to doing that, in fact, I have had and kept my certification for about 10 years now even though the last shift I actually worked as an STNA was about 3 or 4 years ago. I had to stop draggin my leg around and do something else, like Med Secretary duties, then the Business office. Just some thoughts...I know it's hard to sometimes think about changing your job, but I would hate for you to lose it b/c it's hard for us to run to the doc every time we feel like this and can't manage to get to work. There is that big stigmatism from others that have been misdiagnosed with it and think that their "knee" pains or other minor aches are Fibro, so they don't think it's a big deal, although it is to us...It's good you realized your limit though and didn't put yourself through the struggle! |
"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....
