Hi I'm Elizabeth in Pensacola Florida. I have been having muscle and joint pain since May of this year. The 19th of September I was unable to move for like 4 hours. I can only move my hands and feet and am very sensitive to touch. After the 4 hours I was able to move very little and 2 hours after that I could move normally. This episode wiped me out and I slept most of the day. This happened again today and I was at my chiropractors. I stood up from being adjusted and couldn't move after that. Its like my muscles are stuck. Firsts its pain then my muscles wont move. It takes everying to move just alittle bit. I just wonder if its fibromyalgia. My mother has it and I was wondering if anyone experiences what I do or if its reallly something else? Thanks

You should really see a doc and describe those symptoms. To be diagnosed with FM, you probably need to rule some other things out first. Most of us have gone through that process of every needle, x-ray, catscan, etc. before the doc finally just said, there's nothing wrong, it's fibromyalgia. I am sensitive to the touch on most parts of my body - arms, legs, and feet especially. My muscles cramp and don't want to move like I want them to all the time, but I don't necessarily "get stuck" like you are saying. I would really go see your primary care physician if you have one...

I saw a Rheumatolgist the 26th of September and she took xrays on my knees and gave me an NSAIDs. I see her the 17th of October again. I tried moving my legs today but they wouldn't move, I tried hard but my legs started to shake. Its like my muscles gave out on me. And I'm so weak afterwords.

NSAIDS are really just anti-inflammatory medications. Hence, Non Steroidal Anti Inflammatory from the abbreviation. It's hard to say what you really need, but unless you are really "inflamed" then those won't really do much for weak muscles...I know I need a muscle relaxer so that my muscles will calm down and quit making my nerves so darn sensitive. I think they are so tight on the nerves right now that it's making me not only inflamed, but also super sensitive to the touch on my skin. The Rheumy may have seen some signs of Arthritis, so that would be the reason for the NSAID's I'm guessing. Did the Rheumy tell you why she prescribed those for you?

She asked me if I had any pain relief so I'm tihnking thats why she gave it to me. It helps with my joint pain but my muscles still ache. I guess I suffer from knowing too much from being in nursing school so I think I have everything. Shes ruled out rheumatoid arthirtis. I guess I will find out more once I go back. I can hardley be touched sometimes and my back hands and feet are relaly sensitive anyway.

You are explaining just how my feet and legs feel after I sit say 40 min or so, it's like my feet and legs are stuck and then gradually they move!!! I was diagnosed with fibro 15 years ago but these bouts have just started in the last 2-3 years and it comes and goes, crazy disease!!!

It's weird, I read somewhere that FM is not progressive, but I def feel it is...I'm having pain and more sensitivity than ever before. Lzbeth, I can relate to your sensitivities...I have much of the same, especially if I type for a lot of the day...It's not a carpel tunnel feeling...it's more like the sensitive skin feeling...

I've iced my foot pretty much all night off and on Linda and it seems to help! Have you tried it?

sounds like the rumatoligist was hoping it was all in your mind. Like the other postings say NISAD's are worthless for Fibro
