MDJunction to me

"I have been struggling with Fibromyalgia, Bipolar, Anxiety, Post traumatic Syndrome for quite some time and pretty much going it alone. I stumbled across MDJunction by accident. I stayed in the shadows and just watched for four days and then I joined, feeling relieved and excited to have found a safe place with alot of folks that I could relate to . It's proove to be medically and emotionally
helpful to me and now I can't go a day without coming in at least 4 or five times a day! I Love my family here.

Hi! I'm a new member. I have had numbness and tingling in my face for about a month now, along with hands, back, legs, feet. My chiropractor was concerned about me having a stroke, so I went to dr. and he put me on a steriod pack, which helped for about three days and then it all came back. it seems like the more tense I get the worse it gets. I have been working out in the garden alot, could this make it worse?

Hi Cherry,

Welcome to our group!! I LOVE the picture of your horse....absolutely beautiful!

In my opinion the gardening could make the tingling a LOT worse. With the fibro, more than likely, your muscles are already tense and knotted up. Then add the gardening and the muscles knot up that much more. It makes sense to me that added tension could put more pressure on the major nerves leading to the areas that are tingling.

Again...just my opinion I'm sure others, who have more experience with this, will be along and offer additional input.

Cherry,

Please don't automatically assume that all your numbness and tingling is from FM. Many spine issues can cause the same symptoms and if you have been gardening a lot, you could have aggravated something there. Problems in the cervical spine can result in numbness and tingling in the face and is a very serious concern. More serious than nerve symptoms in the rest of your body. I might suggest a visit to a neurologist or see if someone can order an MRI of your spine, especially the cervical and lumbar.

If steroids helped a little, that might be a good indicator of spine problems. Please check it out.

Thaanks everyone for the feedback! I do have many issues with my spine as well as fibro. Last year I had an MRI of both cervical and lumbar, becuase of pain in my arms and legs that was like sciatic pain. I have two bulging discs in my neck, some foriminal narrowing on bothsides of my neck, and some degenerative disease in a few places. But, the doctor said that there weren't any pinched nerves. My chiropractor said that the facial nerves come from the brain stem, not the spine. It just feels like it's all the same issue. I feel like I go in circles, like it all comes back to the fibro, because there is no other answer. I have researched numbness and tingling, and the only thing that sounded like it could possibly account for my issues is MS, that's scary! Does anyone have any comment on that?

I noticed that MS and Fibro have most of the same symptoms. It scares me to death!! I am driving my husband nuts because I am constantly freaked out everytime something new happens. I have had three MRI's, an SSEP test, and an EMG to test for MS and all came back normal, so I know that I don't have MS but I do question myself all the time because the symptoms are so close. Has everyone else also been tested for MS?

I have not been tested for MS, so far my doctors have not even brought it up. I just returned from the chiro, he said that if the steroid helped, then there is probably imflamation somewhere, so it's back to the other doctor, who really does not know anything about fibromyalgia! My chiro will be going to a seminar to learn more about treating fibro through chiropractic care, I hope it works! Can't type much longer, my hands are going numb! Does anyone else get that?
