MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

Now that I will be starting this in 4 days I really want to know if anyone has ever taken this and how did you do with it?

My best friend has me feeling a bit nervous about taking it because she said that it's morphine in the patches, is this true?

She also said they can be very addcting. Not that I have addiction problems, but I was just wondering if this is true also?

My pain doctor said that she wanted to start me out with this first because she felt more comfortable giving me this because it's hard to abuse. Does this mean this is only temporary treatment or that she plans on keeping me on this?

I was put on the patch. I didn't respond well. I have two small dogs and I am afraid that if I use any kind of patch and they somehow get it, I would never forgive myself. I would just think of this as a possible relieve of pain and closer to getting my old self back.

I have two young children and I asked how they want me to throw it away. They told me to put it in a can or something or to just flush it. My toilette isn't all that so I will be burrying mine in the trash in cans and other little things I can find. I read on some site that a womans baby got one out of the trash and her baby died.

Do you mind me asking why you didn't do well with these?

I have allot of trouble with meds and I already told the pain doctor that I'm nervous about taking anything. I really hope these work for me!

I just can't find much info on the internet about my particular dose. I keep finding things about people who are really jacked up on these things.Like at 50 and 75mgs.

Are there other kinds of patches?

I'm really not sure how I will do if this has morphine in it, so that makes me nervous as well.

It made me sick to my stomach and it made me itch alot. I have trouble taking morphine. That is why I am on methadone and oxycodone.

There are lidocaine patched i believe they are called lidoderm and you keep them on for no longer than 12 hrs at a time. They aren't nearly as strong as the fetanyl but, they didn't make me feel bad like the fetanyl did.

I use the Lidoderm patches, I like them, but they aren't very strong. They only work in the place where they are placed.

Lidoderm won't work for me if it only covers the area you put it on.

I read that doctors should only put people on the Fentanyl patch when all oral opiods have failed and that doctors should never start someone off on the patch. Weird hugh? I think it's odd that they would put me on the patch right away. She is afraid of drug abuse and told me thats why she put me on the patch. Well honeslty I would prefer a pill because then I only take it when I feel I need it. She said we would do the patch for now so maybe she wants to do the patch until she gets to know me better and then switch over to something that I can control?

Cadbury,

I didn't want to say anything yesterday, but since you asked. I would definetly try the patch, you may want to make sure someone is around with you for the first 24 hours, just in case you have a reaction to it.

I've read on here before where it has really helped people. My doctor gave it to me when the Lyrica & tramadol weren't helping enough. (tramadol is generic for Ultram er) My insurance wouldn't approve the Ultram.

I took 200mg of tramadol a day & it didn't help.

I don't know if the patches have morphine in them, I had morphine in my spinal for my son's c-section & it didn't make me sick. However I had non-stop vomiting from the fentynal patch - but I'm very sensitive to meds. I really do think you should try it as it may work for you. I ended up calling the pharmacy & taking it off after about 22 hours & flushing it down the toilet. I gave the rest of the patches back to the Pharmacy.

Please don't let what I said deter you from using the patch. Everybody is different. It could turn out to be the best med for you. It's all a trial & error thing with this illness.

I am so glad to see that I am not the only one that has problems taken medications. Sometimes when I tell people I have trouble taking medications they give me this strange look like it is all in my head. You know the look. The one when you tell them about your pain(oh no not another one)that look. My biggest complaint is that I can't get samples first to see if I could take the medicine. Instead I have to pay for it. Take one or two days worth and then what do I do with the rest. I have to flush them and my money down the drain.

HI....Fentanyl patches are not....not Lidoderm patches....they are miles apart.....Fentanyal is a drug all it own...about 100times more prowerful than morphine.... Fentanyl patches can kill you..if you use the type that have the gell in them..... if they leak, there was just a big recall on them...and there are tons of lawsuits on them also.....

Fentanyl also can kill you dogs, cats and kids if you are not extremely careful with them after you take them off....or for that matter before you put them on.........

This is in my mind a very dangerous drug..... I was on fentanyl for over 8 months and I thought I was going to die.....I was on the 100mcg patches along with the 600mcg suckers...Fentanyl did nothing for my pain, except to mess my mind up so much I just kinda forgot I was in pain....3 days ago.. but I knew it when I was in pain at the moment...... it just makes you forget you were in pain 3 day ago.......It made my pain worse....much, much worse.....

Please if you are going on this drug or on it now....be careful......

very careful.........

Craig
