About 10 years ago I had a cocaine problem. Sometimes I run into problems getting any type of pain medication because they are afraid I will become addicted. Looking back I dont even know....it lasted about 6 months before I realized it could become a big problem. I am just really scared that I am not going to get any pain meds that will give me any relief because of something that happened 10 years ago. It always gets brought up.

I'm really sorry to hear this foxy....however, seems like they could find something for you that they could monitor your use of. I know you would want to be careful, but it should not mean that you should be left in pain either. I hope you are able to find a doctor willing to work with you and help find something that works for you. There has to be someone out there. Take care, red

First, CONGRATULATIONS to you for overcoming your addiction...that is awesome!!!

Second, more and more pain doctors are realizing that chronic pain can, and should, be treated by whatever means necessary regardless of past issues. I thought the following article was very encouraging...

I hope others will have some additional input. I'm definitely pulling for you to receive the treatment that you need

Hugs,

They could put you on the Fentanyl patch! My pain doctor said that it's hard to abuse.

My best friend claims they are addicting, but I would say with the patch it could be closley monitored and there would be no way for you to abuse it, so you could talk to them about the patch maybe

They also use Methadone when there has been abuse in the past...at least that is what we use in hospice when trying to control pain...
