This one boggles my mind. I have had 8 Thyroid tests in 2 years. I have no problem with it, and have never had a problem with it. Does anyone have any ideas why they test my Thyroid as part of my FM check ups? Has anyone else had this?

People with Thyroid Issues usually have Fibro as a secondary illness as in my case. I have Hashimoto's and I do hate that my doctor always wants to point all my complaints towards my thyroid disease and disregard the Fibro. However, it is really hard to adress Fibro symptoms when you have something else going on in your body such as a low or high funtioning thyroid.

The Thyoid Disease or any other ailment must be addressed before adequate relief can be reached for Fibro. I find that even with my thyroid in check, my Fibro never is. But, when my Thyroid is misbehaving my Fibro is off the charts as well.

Kristie is right though, people that suffer with Fibro usually have underlying issues playing havoc on our souls. I think they want it to be our Thyroid since it is so much easier to "fix" us than if we truly suffer from Fibro and Fibro alone. Sad

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

I am just like you and I am on MDJ for support and true friendship. Please, always consult with your doctor about medical advice and medication, never take one's opinion regarding your most precious asset which is your life.

They check your thyroid so much because the thyroid is something that can change quickly. It also mimics alot of FM issues so it might be harder to detect based off symptomology in a FM patient.

I agree, fm symptoms are very similar to thyroid issues. I was diagnosed with a hypothyroid first and years later came the fm. My doctor still checks it regularly bc if it isn't functioning well it will make a person get achey, fatigue, muscle weakness, etc.
