MDJunction to me

"In the 3 months I have been with MDJunction I have developed a sense of calmness. I now friends who do not judge me because I have been a mental mess at times. It is such a good feeling to have friends I can tell my deepest thoughts and always get back to me with their support. I have never seen a therapist for long periods of time. Right or wrong, this is the best therapy possible for me. Thanks Roy for getting this up and running and making such a difference in my life. Sara" (saralaurie)

I wanted to share with everyone something my doctor told me. That the ads on TV for Lyrica are sometimes hurting people with fibro. and other similar problems. Here lies the problem... She said that someone sees the ad and has been sent away by many doctors and then had alot of the symptoms listed on this ad. You then go into your dr. office and asked to be put on this new drug thinking you may just have fibro. This is from my doctor... She says that doctors have large egos and fon't like the patients coming and telling them what to do, especially since most of them are not familiar with Lyrica or fibro. They can get angry and just be another doctor who sends you out the door. I am so glad I have this wonderful Dr. who is so open and honest. I thought I should warn everyone to be tackful when going into a doctors office, some have LARGE EGO's. Good luck

So true about the overblown egos. You said a mouthful. I am just starting to learn how to deal with Drs., but havn't had much success yet. Stupid me, I thought I would be respected if I talked like an intelligent, informed consumer. It's been like banging my head into a brick wall. BTW, Lyrica was a nightmare for me and Dr. Ego just wanted to reduce my dose.

If doctors aren't going to listen to you then it is time to move on to the next one. Yes, some do have big egos and they probably give the profession a bad stereotype, but I honestly believe that most are caring concerned individuals. If you just happen to have one that doesn't listen or treat you the way you feel you should be treated......just like bad service at a store or any other business......take it elsewhere.....they aren't the only show in town. I have a joke about doctors and God but I won't put that on here as it might offend someone. If we fibros speak up and continue to speak up, they are bound to start listening.

P.S. - I have a GREAT doctor and if I didn't, she would be history!!

Have a good one my friends.

You are truly LUCKY to have found a good Dr. you can trust and also have the option to shop for a new one. Unfortunately that has never been my experience.

Docs can be caring individuals and still have big egos, those kind just control their egomania better. Hawkeye, I know what you mean about docs not liking to be told what meds you want, they prefer to tell you what you are going to take. Most of them figure if you could medicate yourself you wouldn't be there to see them. I have been very llucky with my doc,I worked with her berfore becoming her patient so that really helped our relationship.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

Glad you too have found a good Doc, kesslmama! The sad thing about the docs are, although most are well meaning, MOST of US probably know more about this disease better than they do. That's why I really like that show on Discovery Health Channel, Mystery Diagnosis. The Doc's that finally do find out what is wrong with the patient, they are very humbled! I even heard one of them say that she had Graves disease and had a whole new prespective on patient's feelings! With a great message to all of US... Don't give up!
