MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

The heavy stuff to me is vicoden, percocet and darvocet lol.

I have to wait 11 more days to go to the pain clinic! One more week!

I wish I would have known about keeping a journal early on.My mom bought me a journal and I have only been able to write in it once because I get sharp pains that shoot through my hands and make it makes them hurt more when I have to hold a pen.

I have been tried on the Lyrica two times already by the same doctor.

I was tried on some more meds but for the life of me can't remember them and that was a long time ago.

I don't know what will happen, but surley the pain clinic will help me.I can only pray.

Unfortunatly there are people in the world who don't take pain medications for pain. They take it to get high, so Doctor's have to be careful on what they give to patients in fear of they might be drug addicts. So it hurts people like us that truly need the pain to go away.

Trisha.

I have noticed that drug addicts get pain medication much easier than people like us who really need it.

I know this because my best friend has a friend who is a drug addict and she got into a car accident and used it for all it was worth.

She takes her pain meds and trades them for things that she can inject.I called her doctors office and told them, but they gave them to her anyway so appearantly if your a junkie you can get pain meds.

I was also told by my cusion that someone he knows went to a doctor and told him that he was addicted to crystal meth and wanted to get off of it and you know what the doctor gave this junkie? Pain meds. thats right and guess what the junkie was lieing about wanting to get clean.

What gets me is what kind of doctor gives a drug addict more drugs as a way of helping them? Seriously if I was a doctor I would have been refering him to a drug treatment center.

I have also heard that if you pay cash the doctors are more willing to write out pain meds.Seems shady to me.

I just don't understand it. I think given the fact I have done everything that has been asked of me and been left to suffer for more than a year someone at some point should help me.

Cadburry- When they don't give you the meds you need and you ask them why not- what is their reason?

Another woman here was struggling with the same thing. She finally said to her doctor "If your wife was in constant chronic pain what would you want done for her?" He said "I'd want to help with some of her pain" So she said "Well then- think of me as your wife because I am a wife to somebody- get me out of this pain!"- she finally got some meds.- not saying it is going to work but I'd like to hear their REASON!!!

I havn't really asked for pain meds. All I have ever asked is that someone get me out of this pain. My doctors office doesn't like to treat anyone for their pain. It's not just me.I also spoke to an elderly woman who stopped going to my clinic because they refused to treat her pain.

My doctor is sending me to the pain clinic because they are scared to deal with chronic pain.

I want to ask the pain clinic for some pain meds, but don't really know how to go about doing it.

I wish I was with the doctor that treated me before I got on medicaid because I would feel comfortable asking him for pain meds.He would know I must be in some terrible pain because I have never asked him for pain meds before. He would do everything in his power to get me feeling as normal as possible.

The pain clinic that I got to go to one time was going to put me on pain meds if the Tramadol didn't help, but I never got to go back to them because they stoppd accepting medicaid

Thats why I'm waiting to go to another pain clinic now.

Good luck to you. I think I know how you feel...

Im on methadone for my FM. I was put on it when the doctors felt i was taking to many Norco a day.[4-6.

methadone has helped so much. plus im on Gabapentin too.

I am angry with the drug addicts too that screw it up for the rest of us. it was hard for me to get the drugs until i was in the doctors office having a major break down while in a Flare up. I hoped that scared my doctors to believe, and they finally put me on drugs to relieve my pain.

I have tried Klonopin and it does not work for me at all. And I have tried every type of pills possible and now I am on Hydrocodone and I do not care anymore. You know I went for years not wanting pain pills at all I dealt with it daily. Now I went to that pain doctor here and he wants me to see a psychotherapist. I can not refuse because of my disability. But when they called yesterday to set up the appointment, I was informed that I have to answer over 500 questions that will take me at least 4 hours and then I will see him. In the long run the appoint will take 4-6 hrs. plus I will have to drive a little over 1 hr. both ways so that is a 8 hr day for one appt. and they want to try to start taking me off of my meds. They better not stop my anti-depressants before then other wise I will end up in a hospital but not the one that you think.

Go figure these doctors anymore.

I know what you mean AngelBooze. Why do new doctors always want to cut or completely stop our meds? Don't they realize that they are the only thing keeping us sane and keeping us having some sembelance of a normal life?
