Ok -first off I love the forums and it has been great getting to meet so many people with this condition.

HOWEVER- sometimes I'm worried if my fibro gets worse I won't be given stronger meds. I'm not on strong pain meds now just a muscle relaxer and Ultram but they will cut the pain for me.

I feel so bad for people who aren't having their pain needs met. I sure hope I don't ever run into that problem.

The worse problem I've had is getting a doctor to give me kolonopin to sleep. I don't know why they didn't flinch about giving me the D%$%^M ambien which for me was like being knocked out at first then in a short amount of time didn't do much.

I know kolonopin is a BENZO- but they make you feel like your a drug head wanting to sleep. I finally got a doctor to give it to me 1mg and I've been on that for 3.5 years. In fact I can usually only take .5 and get a good night of sleep.

Why are these doctors so terrible about this? I swear I don't ever want to move- thank God my doctor is young too.

I have often thought that there should be a patients bill of rights so that people like myself are not left to suffer needlessly.

I can tell you it causes me allot of anxiety to think that no one will ever treat my pain. I tried the Tramadol and it did not help me at all. I stayed on it for a little over a month. I thought this would bring me great releife without having to be on heavy meds but was highly disapointed. I have learned to not get my hopes up about medicines because the let down can be devistating.

I'm afraid of what I might do if someone doesn't help me and soon.

I can not tell you that it will get better because no one knows. But I can tell you that you have a better chance of making it without alot of aloneness. You have all of us to share this with you and help you through it. That is one of the best things that we all have at this point in time is each other no matter what stage we

are in. I have had this for so long that I do not think that there is a drug out there, except narcotics, that I have not tried. Now they, the docs., are having me go to a psychotherapist to try new mind over matter ways that they say that they can teach me. I am scyeptical about this just because I have been doing mind over matter for so many years that I do not know why I have to drive over an hour away to be taught something that I know. But Gosh I am sorry I got off track. What I was going to say is that hopefully between all of us we can find something that will help you with the pain. We will be here for you if and when you need us to be.

The other thing that I have learned is that all the men and women that I have met with Fibro are the most strongest people that I have ever met. That includes you. This will show you what everyone else can already see that you are very very strong.

So stay strong and know that you can talk to any of us and if you ever need to pm me go ahead and I will talk with you.

I am at that point right now where my doc wants to send me to a pain clinic because he wont give me anything stronger then Vicodin and that makes me itch, gives me severe stomach pain and doesnt help much anyway. But its all I can afford so what else am I supposed to do. Tried pt and all that. Does not help me. Probably wont be able to afford any other med eather anyway. (lovely)

Everyday is a battle for us. I often wonder myself if my family doctor is even in "tune" with what is best for me. She isnt inside my body, she isnt dealing with the pain.

From a personal perspective, we are not druggies! We are all people suffering from a (you know what disease) that requires some form of pain medication to try and "manage" our pain. No, there isnt any med out there (in my opinion) that completely wipes the pain away. However, with the help of the medication it does make it to where we feel as though we have some quality of life.

I myself feel like a guineau pig right now or a rat used in medicine experimentation. I go in the hospital on Tuesday for a video EEG and my neurologist has already started to wean me off ALL my meds, and when I am there, I will have NO meds for 72 hours, in hope that I will seize and get it recorded.

How is this healthy for our bodies to be given (yes I am on 9 medications daily) and then BAM... take you off? I swear if you didnt know me you would think Im severely bi-polar this week. It has been pure hell for me emotionally and physically.

I commend anyone and everyone of us that can hold it together, because at times like now, all I wanna do is brake.

When the world says give up, hope whispers give it one more try... unknown

Currently the only thing I take is Prizac, 10mg 2 meds for HBP, flexerill(muscle relaxant and clonazapam (klonopin) and Mobic (iNsaid)I have tried lots of others but they make me either extremely nauseas or really mess with my head. My primary care doctor I have been seeing for over 10 years now, so he knows me pretty well and will prescribe just about anything for me. It's just that I cannot take the codiene drugs and tramadol does not mix with Prozac, and tramamdol wasn't helping much anyway. This is just something we have to learn to live with and find our own ways to get any little bit of relief we can. Cadbury, are you on anything t all? I have even skipped my Mobic for a few days and felt no difference, so I don't think it does anything to help either. Why are they taking you off everything and hoping you will seizure, Just Annie? I don;t get that at all. I also have notice that us with fibro are an extremely strong group of people. We have to be. And we are all here for each other. Thank God for that!

Meleggs, Just a PS. I was given Klonopin for RLS by the nurologist. I had tried Requip and Mirapex and both made me sick.

If you guys are- well I know you are- struggling with not getting your pain controlled I encourage you to go to my doctor's website. You may or may not know I see Dr. Pellegrino- he himself has fibro and treats many people with it. He also has written a number of books. He is covered under my insurance.

His office told me, when I was calling them for a referral for another forum member-that if you can't see him look for a doctor in your area that does what he does.

In his books he talks about some patients needing strong pain meds. What makes him unique is he DOES understand the impact on your life and he knows your pain is real. He works with his patients to GET THEIR PAIN UNDER CONTROL.

He really is the nicest sweetest guy on top of the fact he has some kind of hearing impairment so growing up the poor guy had to deal with hearing problems then he got fibro in med. school.

If you can- get one of his books. They are really informative.

I know he sees patients from out of state but if that isn't realistic like I said he said try and see someone in his field closer to you if you can.

his site is www.ohiorehabcenter.com

I just wish I could do more to help you guys- REALLY!!!!!!

I know- I don't want to switch my kolonopin. It does help with my RLS and it's very cheap!!! I have no desire to try another med. "If it ain't broke- don't fix it!"- my motto!!
