I just need to complain. In what world is it all right for a Dr. to tell you something is wrong on a thursday, tell you she'll call you back thurs night or friday morning either way...then keep you waiting and worring all weekend? I know I need to find a new Dr. "STAT", but I'm finding that much easier said than done. I've been up half the night and just needed to rant about it. Once again, those of you who have managed to find kind, sensitive, caring Docs. are truely lucky.

psk,

I'm so sorry you have had to go through this. When you do get your results look at who is calling. Is it the Doctor or the office nurse. If it is the Nurse like in alot of offices make sure you let the doctor know what you have gone through. It may not have been the Doctor's fault. It could have been the lab not getting results to them quick enough even though it's a STAT, or the staff not returning calls when they should. If it is the doctor's fault still let him know how upset you have been all weekend but if the fault is somewhere else he needs to know his staff is not following through. I hope you are able to get your results quickly today. I would call the office as soon as they open don't wait for them. Good Luck and I hope all results are good

Those of you who have found kind, caring, consciencious Doctors are truely lucky. Please realize that and be thankful. I can only hope that with luck and legwork, I will someday find one too.

My Drs. office claims the Dr. spoke to me on Friday????

I was never more than 4' from the phone. I ended up having IV treatment in the ER today. At least they didn't admit me.

Thank you all for being my support. I love you guys.

I'm glad you got the treatment you needed and hope it makes you feel better soon. I think the office has a comunication problem and one hand doesn't know what the other is doing. I know it can be hard and scary to look for a new doctor. I wish you luck which ever way you go.

Hi guys!

I don't always think it's the doctors fault at times. No offense to those who work in doctors offices LOL, but sometimes those that work there take it upon themselves to handle things and end up not talking or communicating with the doc. We just had this experience over the weekend and today. My husband found that the doctor ordered a change of script and didn't tell him. He talked to the doctor himself and the doctor was willing to see what went wrong. He was told to call the prescription line and he would take care of it. Well, nothing was done and so my husband called and talked to the lady on the prescription line and tryed to explain what happened. Well, she started in on how the doctor never would have prescriped it that way and my hubby told her he has for years. She called our pharmacy and still insisted after being told what the script usually was. She refused to talk to the doctor and said that we'll keep it this way now. My husband was so mad he wanted to cuss them out. No one even the doctor told him of any change in scripts, and the nurse (?) took it upon herself to deal with it.

Hubby doesn't want to fight with her so he's going to try to talk to the doctor in the next appoint.

It was totally frustrating and wrong. She was supposed to talk to the doctor today when she received my hubbys call and never did! I know because as soon as she got off the phone, she called our pharmacy immediately (my husband warned the pharmacy right a way and she was on the line with the nurse. So we do know she didn't have time to talk to the doc.

I think I'm rambling, but it was so upsetting. This sort of stuff happened to my sister in Az. She found out the nurses or who ever handle these matters would never call her back. She finally told the doctor and she apologized to my sis. So sometimes it's not the doc but some staff members.

However, for all you GREAT people who work in the doctors offices and do the job right.....it's much appreciated!

Take care and sorry about venting and going on!

Spruce

Sometimes I think problems arise from the amount or patients physicians try to see and take care of. I used to be a nurse in a doctors office and one day we actually saw 62 patients. Now, this was done effectively by a system using two nurses and a CNA. The problems arise when the physician tells a patient ot a nurse tells a patient something does not follow through. It donesn't take long for a misconmmunication or a mistake to be made. I have learned a lot being a patient for the last 2 years. One day I told my neurologists office, " I am a nurse and I know that you cannot treat patient's this way" after they forgot me and turned the light off and began to close the office. At first the nurses didn't want to take care of me because I knew them. Some of them I had trained. But as I kept going back and they could see I was sick and not there to test them, they eased up and things got better. My advice to anyone, and I have been on both sides is, if there is something that you don't like or that does not feel comfortable to you--challenge it. You have the right to safe and effective health care. This prescription problem was corrected, but were you appologized to? Will you be? You should be. If this had happened to me I would have been sitting in the office as soon as it opened.

Who is this lady on the prescription line? Is she a doctor?

I guess I had to defend the nurse in the office a little bit. The doctor is known to abuse their help at times. I also had to vent because of what has happened to me. I hope all ended well and your hubby got what he needed. He was lucky that he knew enough that his script wasn't right and was able to take care of it. What about the little old people that can't? Who is taking care of them. It goes back to what I started with. Physicians are trying to see too many patients a day. Finish one patient before you start another and don't talk to me while you are walkin to the door or with your back to me going out the door. I paid to see your face.

I love the receptionist at my doctors office. She has more patience and listens better than my NP!

Dear PSK,

I was scanning over a few of the topics and saw your post. I don't see anything giving a final result yet but I hope everything is ok for you. Please hang in there. Just as a couple of others said, stress only makes things worse and believe me, I know it's not easy to overcome, just gotta try hard as you can.

I am so sorry that I did not see your post sooner. I feel it was wrong that they did not get you the info you needed right away.

It is hard to believe how much time you have to spend calling the offices because they do not do what they should be doing. Or, they are so understaffed that they seem to never get caught up.
