Donna, hi. I'm not on Savella, but also would like to hear from anyone who has tried it. I go to my doctor on Monday to get new pain meds (my Neurontin doesn't help anymore), and was going to ask him about Savella. Nice to meet you Donna.

hello mslinda, I am also delighted to meet you. yes I am on the savella and it is the only thing that has worked for me so far but the side effects are horrible, sweating, nausea, and when you sweat it is like a water faucet just pouring down and it is miserable. but it helps my pain and that is a big plus. I was on lyrica and gained 30-40 lbs and it only helped the flares some, I am so glad to be off the lyrica. so are you having alot of pain? I am here for you if you needto talk. I am sure you will like it here, there is all kinds of support and caring people hugs to you donna

Hey, Donna. I do have alot of pain. I recently had to drop out of grad school because the pain was so bad I couldn't go to class. I'm hoping my doc can help. He said I would gain weight on the Lyrica, so that's why I'm not taking that one. I haven't heard any good news about any of the drugs, except the real pain meds. I might have to go to those for awhile. I hope the Savella works for you--I know it is wonderful to be pain-free, even for a short time.

Yes, I'm a new member and I am on Savella for about 2 months. After having sweating as a side effect, I've had quite a reduction in pain and a better quality of life. As opposed to taking Lyrica twice a day, I take Savella twice a day @50mg and Lyrica as needed. I think of Lyrica as my "hard core" pain med, because it's a narcotic...where Savella is not. I also have weight loss with Savella, which is one of the reasons my rheumatologist switched me to it...because that is one of the known side effects, whereas Lyrica causes weight gain. I took Neurontin for a short while, but it made me feel drunk...I like the idea of being in control, so I was taken off of that quickly.
Nothing is either good or bad...but thinking makes it so.

I am so sorry to hear you had to drop out of school but I definiately know how bad the pain is, it is so horrible I have never had pain like that in my life. I have to take oxycodone also for the pain and don't get me wrong I still have pain but it just isn't as bad since I started the savella. how long have you been diagnosed with fibro? It is really nice to have you in this group, welcome again. hugs donna

Hello Everyone!

SOrry to hear about the side effects you are experiencing. I had a bad reaction to Lyrica, so I have not ran to my Doctor to try Savella.

And MsLinda, I'm sorry to hear you had to drop out of Grad school. Fibro sucks. I know we are a bunch of talented people that are tied to our beds and living rooms all day, just waiting for a pain free day.

Welcome Sheabutta! It sounds like you are doing better on the Savella than most. That's great! If you have any questions or have any problems, I'll try to help you. If not, we have a great support group with a bunch aof knowledgeable, caring people that you can talk to at almost anytime of the day or night, so welcome (again)!

hello sheabutta, how are you and it is so nice to meet you. I was told lyrica wasn't a narcotic but yet you still have to show ID to get it, I found that strange. with the lyrica I gained horrible weight and I stopped taking that and started the savella and lost all kinds of weight. which was a good thing. I was on 50mgs twice daily and cut myself down to 25 twice daily and I feel better with that dose. plus I don't sweat as much. wouldn't it be wonderful if thay would find a cure for this crazy fibro? hugs to you donna
