Do any of you get alot of swelling as a symptom of your fibro? I have tons of it going on in my hands, arms and feet. I hate it because besides not being able to walk on my own the way it is, the last thing I need is severe swelling in my feet that hurts so bad to even touch the floor with.

I also have the swelling in my hands, and feet. It is terrible. I just don;t know what to do about it, but it is usually first thing in the AM and after I sit for about 5 minutes if I don't have my feet up.

I have the same issues pretty much. Except when it does show up, it last a couple days before it subsides, no matter whether I put my feet up or not. I have been prescribed diuretics in the past, but I was told to quit taking them because they were stripping my potassium so bad, although I was taking a potassium pill with them. That was a couple years ago, before I was diagnosed with the fibro.

I would still have it checked out again. Back in Oct. I went to Va. to visit my family and on the plane ride back, my feet got REALLY bad. The doc had to add a second BP med. It helped to get the fluid out.

I plan to discuss it with my doc next time I go in. It is or seems to be getting out of hand especially the last month or so.

I have an appointment next month already set. I have lived this long with it lol, I will just wait until then. I have enough doctor bills that have destroyed my family.

I just went to my pain doctor this morning and he looked at my ~ what I call soccer balls for ankles ~ and he said it "WAS" from the fibro and also since I am on such a high dose of Lyrica (150mg 3x dly). Hope this maybe helps you out a bit. Hugs to everyone....

Well I am glad to know that it is probably most likely another crap symptom of the fibro, but I do not take any meds except for celexa for my depression and synthroid for my thyroid disease. As far as I know, neither of those causes any swelling, but I may be wrong too. I have taken every pain pill imaginable for both my conditions and nothing has ever helped. The only thing I have to relieve some of the pain is by using heating pads, heating blankets and lidoderm patches my pain specialist gave me. And sometimes those do not even help. So I am not sure that I can relate meds to the swelling. I will talk to my doc about it though.

Well, I went to the doc today because yesterday the swelling got worse. The skin on my feet is so tight I can hardly touch my feet without them hurting major bad. They are huge. Anyways, did not get good news. Was told I was on the verge of getting CHF and if I did not lose weight ASAP, I could very well end up with the CHF very soon. I had a bunch of blood tests and xrays done today. I now have to go see a bariatric doctor May 27th to look into surgery. I am very overweight, and because of my conditions I am not able to exercise so this is the only option for me right now. I am not looking forward to it. I have talked with many people who had the surgery and it has been kind of even down the road, either it was an awesome success or major problems and complications.

Please keep me in your thoughts. I am now taking the wonderful cow pill of potassium and a diuretic. I have to go back and see the doc April 30th for a recheck. I ended up crying through the appointment because it scared me, although I wanted to ask some more questions, but I could not stop the tears from rolling. It really scared me. I am only 36 and I have so many health problems now, this is the last thing I need. I just cant take anymore. I am about ready to quit going to the doctor because everytime I go, I come home with a new diagnosis of something or other. And then yet on top of it, they say I am not disabled. I just want to go curl up in a corner and not come out for a long time.
