MDJunction to me

"I have been struggling with Fibromyalgia, Bipolar, Anxiety, Post traumatic Syndrome for quite some time and pretty much going it alone. I stumbled across MDJunction by accident. I stayed in the shadows and just watched for four days and then I joined, feeling relieved and excited to have found a safe place with alot of folks that I could relate to . It's proove to be medically and emotionally
helpful to me and now I can't go a day without coming in at least 4 or five times a day! I Love my family here.

Sandi, Morning! I couldnt resist posting today even tho I said I wasnt going to and give myself a day off the internet, BUT when I saw you posting I just had to! Yes, I will take a pump!! Yesterday I had a terrible pain day. Esp in my arms, hands and wrists all the way up to my shoulder and neck. I took a Percocet last night and I had a heating pad on my all night. In fact at one point I woke up and my dear sweet hubby was holding the heating pad on me so it wouldnt fall off. He knew I was in serious pain because I was moaning and groaning all night, he said.

You know I handle my pain at home too through my drs. I dont go to the ED at the drop of a hat because I dont have insurance and I feel as if I am wasting the drs precious time and they could be seeing another pt worse off than me. Plus you are there so LONG! I HATE IT.

Glad to see you back..

I am certainly no expert when it comes to asking for meds without sounding like a junkie. I just started at the pain clinic a few months ago. At my first visit, I was just honest with the doc...that I am looking for the best combo of meds for me that will give me the best quality of life. I told her that I need her to be a member of my team to help me find what I am looking for. I find that I know my story and the many diff meds I have tried a lot better than her. She has it all on paper (thanks to me) but if we work together as a team, I think we will both feel less frustrated.

I am learning that it takes another whole level of vulnerability on my part to share my fears, frustrations, side effects, etc. For example, while Cymbalta was helping my mood & a little with my pain, it had other side effects with my emotions & desire that were not acceptable to me. So, we had to discuss whether or not the benefits outweighed the consequences. We decided it didn't, so I am tapering off of it and we will try something different.

I hope this all makes sense. I feel like I have written a book so will stop here for now. If anyone wants more input/info from me, you can pm me anytime. Best wishes for a lesser pain day!

What is sad is that allot of us are so desperate for reliefe we fear we might sound like a junkie and be denied the very thing we know will or might help bring us some great releife.

We have drug addicts who con doctors to thank for this.

I am starting to think that relief is a fairy tale.
