So i had an echo done today because of the heart palpitations... while the nurse was doing it the cardiologist came in and was looking at the monitor, he said my heart looks fine but i have fluid around my lungs and thats not good. he said my doctor may want it drained, and that i should call my primary doc right away in the morning. I called my doctor when i left and spoke to the nurse (who knows me well, im in there so much)and she said uh oh thats not good, your to young for that to happen. she said the doctor is out for the night but she will leave her a report for the morning.

I made the HUGE mistake of Googleing (dont think thats a word but you no what i mean) fluid in the lungs; the only this that came up were lung cancer and congestive heart failure... are you kidding me? im only 20!!! and i just turned 20!!!!! ugh so now im like flipping out.

Hang in there!! I know, the internet can be too powerful. I sometimes wish I didnt know some stuff. Being a medical professional is hard too. Know too much.

Hang in there. Maybe it will be something minor.. will be thinking of you.

Hi Linny, you'll be in my prayers as well. I know it's easy for me to say, but "try to relax while you're waiting to hear back from your doctor."

Do you have any symptoms of a flu or cold-virus? I think some infections/ things like that can cause fluid in the lungs. It is good that they are checking you out Linny. If when all is said and done- and if nothing shows for the heart palpations- know that some of us- including me- experience them too. I mostly notice them when I am laying down. I know I am not dying but they are very annoying. Hopefully all will be well- let us know after you see the doctor!

Your initial post said:

Was it as you stated, "around".

because that could be a lot of things -- none 'good' but many of them far less dire than cancer or congestive heart failure.

Heres what I would do: Call that cardios office back, get a clear cut dx, not from a nurse, have the dr call you back. If it was something really serious I am sure he would have taken care of the problem right away. Secondly, did you get a copy of your bill? A lot of times they circle the dx on there....

And third stop searching the net!!!! LOL

Yeah, I agree! The 'net' can put ALLLLLLL sorts of negative thoughts into your head. BELIEVE ME....I KNOW! We all do it and I continue to do it...even after my doc said, "Okay, listen"...he drew a BIG circle on a piece of paper and said, "THIS is Fibro"....then he drew a little circle in the middle of the big one and said, "And THIS is the internet". Then he scribbled a bunch of marks between the two circles and said..."And THIS is what you learn on the internet". So, in other words...we'd all 'dx' ourselves with a hundred things...if we convince ourselves we have it!

So, Linny...I really think you should call the doc or wait for the doc's call. After all, if it was something THAT urgent...they would have already called you!

Hang in there...I'm here for ya~

Throw away any medical books you have and stay off the net. My Dr. says that most of the books have only the worst cases in them, the net has a tendency to make us think the worst and the more we worry without an answer from our Drs. the more dire of a case we get. Believe me I know how we all think. I ask my doctor to write everything down for me because I can't remember by the time I get home and then I am sure that he said that it is really bad. If your doctor doesn't call first thing this morning call him and tell the nurse that you will hold. Peace of mind is so very important and once we know for sure what we are dealing with then we can accept it and go on and get it taken care of. Our minds can play such dirty tricks on us making us think the worst is going to happen. Hang in there and know that we are thinking and praying for you. Jean the Slow Goddess.

Ahhhh I want to scream, freaken doctors are a joke... So i just called my doctor to see what should be done about this fluid around my lungs and guess what she said!? The cardiologist said absolutely nothing in his dictation about there being fluid around your lungs. so shes going to call and talk to him and call me back... Why did he make such a big deal about it and tell me to call my doctor right away, and then not say anything in his dictation? MANNNNNN Way to stress me out even more! so now i play the waiting game yet again.
