I think we talked about this before Im not sure if this is eye floaters? I have like squiggle lines I can see if my eyes are closed or looking at something with light..it looks like I let the kids draw on my eyeballs with a pen ( wish it was atleast neat).

but I've noticed it for a few days but today while I was trying to clean my pool with the skimmer I spent some time trying to capture the squigglies untill I figured out what they wereShocked

we all have alot to give if one gets the help then some of this suffering is worth it..

remeber I am not a doctor I just say what I think

You need to see an eye dr. Is there pain associated with it? There's a few things that it could be. Call an eye dr and set up an appt.

Sounds like floaters but it's always best to check just to be sure. Especially if you have flashes of light at all.

You know, like sparklers.

Sudden onset of floaters can mean a detached or partially detaching retina. That happened to me in both eyes and while the retinas recovered, I was stuck with "every floater in the world" in my eyes according to my eye doctor. I fought my provider long and hard and finally got to see a retinal specialist who was able to operate and remove the floaters...I had perfectly clear eyesight for about 6 weeks, then my catarcts suddenly progressed and I lost 20% of my vision in two weeks. I had cataract surgery on both eyes and got interocular implants. My vision went from -11 in both eyes to 20-20...for the first time in my life I can see without glasses!

I don't recommend the floater surgery though unless they're absolutely interferring with your vision. I thought my CFS was coming from eye strain, but now I know it's all part of the dread disease (ok, dread condition)...

Dear Broken...

Are you currently taking Lyrica? If you are, get to the eye doctor please hun. Rayne says that this is a possible sign of a partially or detatched retina...so glad that you caught that and had it corrected Rayne! One of the bad side effects of Lyrica is detatched retinas.

I had been on Lyrica for 7 months, and didn't know what to attribute my vision problems to. I have always had minor floaters, but was getting 'gaps' in my vision. I am a painter, and when I would concentrate on a piece of work, I wouldn't be able to see what I was looking at. I get ocular migraines, but this was different.

Due to several other side effects, I came off the Lyrica, and the Cymbalta that I had been taking (if they work for someone, great, but for me they were poison). I was sent back to my eye doctor who says that my retinas are fine, but he believes that I have something else going on. As far as he can see, my eyes are clear, but he feels that something is disrupting the signals from my brain. Have to wait for an appointment with an opthomologist now.

Please don't leave this, and get it checked as soon as you can.

Hugs

Gaberiella

I have not heard of Lyrica causing detached retinas. I also suffer from blurry vision, mostly worse in my left eye. This I know is a side effect from the Lyrica, because it was not like this before.

I was unaware of detached retinas being a side effect though and my doctor has said nothing about my eyes. Wow, I will have to check into this.

Gabriella, you do think that stopping the Lyrica will halt the vision issues?

Elizabeth

I don't mean to scare you broken but scribbles could mean many things some of which are quite serious. You really need to set up an appt with an opthamologist.

Elizabeth,

I can only tell you about my personal experiences with Lyrica, and that being said, know of people who have been greatly helped by it. It did help my pain levels, but the side effects for me were extreme. I am VERY sensitive to all medications also...a child`s dose of Benadryl will put me into ga-ga land.

For me, I have noticed a slight improvement in my vision issues after stopping the Lyrica, BUT, my issues are likely different from yours. My saga began with a series of post exposure rabies vaccines that triggered a violent autoimmune reaction. I was daignosed with Serum Sickness rather quickly, then PTSD, THEN with secondary fibromyalgia. The doctors feel that the antibodies from the vaccines attacked any weaknesses in my body, and having led what one would call a rather `eventful` life, I had LOTS of weaknesses. I seemed to have calcifications occur at prior injury sites...including something that they think is a calcium deposit in my brain, at what could be the site of a trauma caused by a nasty fall from a horse. Showing off for a boy when I was 15...not a brilliant move. It is possible that I have another of these things...whatever they are, in my brain that is affecting my vision.

This long winded explaination does have a point. Lyrica was originally developed as an anti-seizure drug, from my understanding, and can potentially cause intra-cranial pressure in some patients. This can contribute to a host of problems if you are reactive, including dizziness, vertigo, vision problems...etc. I made the decision to wean off of it...very slowly mind you, when I forgot to take a night time dose (300mg)...forgot AGAIN to take my morning dose (150mg) and had a bunch of what I believe were tiny seizures that day. I couldn`t figure out why I couldn`t walk straight, and kept falling over. I discussed these problems, as well as extremity numbness and sudden onset weight gain with my doctor, and we decided that it was not for me.

Withdrawl was horrendous. Horrendous. I titrated off slowly, but as I said, am VERY sensitive to medication, and was on quite a high dose. After about 3 weeks, I started to feel somewhat human again, but suffer from chronic side effects that may never go away. My left arm and hand goes totally numb alot, as does my right leg. My right foot is also freezing most of the time...my doctor hopes that these problems may dissipate with time.

So...as I said, everyone has different reactions to different drugs. I looked into the history or Lyrica, and the legal problems facing Dr. Reuben, who allegedly falsified 21 of the 24 reports that he submitted on Lyrica, and decided that it was not for me. I have also spoken to some people that could not live without it, so it`s all very personal, between each individual patient and their doctor.

I wish you luck. I am presently waiting for approval to start LDN (naltrexone) which has very few side effects...I`m hoping that this may be the answer for me.

Take care & Hugs

Gaberiella
