MDJunction to me

"All I can say is that this has been the best place ever. It has been six to seven months since I joined, and I have learned so much. I now believe in myself and accept myself on a completely different level. The people on MDJunction has been so supportive and accepting that I have been able to adopt it into my personal life. That has reduced a lot of stress in my life. Thanks to all." (bunnyfly)

Also, you can get a mouth guard from your dentist to wear at night to protect your teeth while you're sleeping. People tend to grit thier teeth at night during sleep the most.

I've always had really good strong teeth. I never made the connection to the Fibro or my Meds, my DH is the one who pointed it out.

Oh and Skin, you are SOOO right. Skin and hair so very, very dry!!! I've NEVER had dry skin. But then when I get the hot times, I get so oily. A complete flip flop. I'm used to normal hair and skin. Break outs are horrible and I get infected hairs on my face that you have to dig to China to get out and then have a big nasty looking place for a couple weeks. Nothing heals and goes away. Even when the kitties or dogs accidentally scratch me, it leaves scars.

This "new body" is so hard to get accustomed to!

I agree on the receeding gums and the base of the teeth cumble and fall out. I've got about evey back tooth doing that and 2 front teeth. I've always been a big smiler, but not anymore. So self conscious of it all. It's making me more of an introvert which is hard because I was so shy as a child, I pushed myself really hard to overcome that and become and outgoing person. Now I'm having reversion issues. UGH

I love that Slow Moving Goddess!!

I wish tons of love and hugs!

This is interesting. I have never heard anyone with FM talk about their teeth crumbling. I'm really sorry that is happening to all of you! I have not taken any meds for FM for awhile now. I have been trying to go with natural supplements, chiro, etc (I'll see how long this works for me - had sooo many problems alredy on meds). My teeth have not given me any of these problems, however, I do clench my teeth terribly. I see a special dentist/naturopath that works with people who have FM, and all sorts of other problems. He fitted me with a day guard and a night guard. I was having a lot of tooth/jaw pain. Wearing the guards day and night has helped this and stopped some of the intense migraines I was having. I hope you all find out what is causing the teeth to crumble. That is awful, and I hope mine don't decide to start that.

I'm 27 and haver taken very good care of my teeth. I had braces just 7 years ago. I just had to have the tooth in very back upper right side pulled out last Thursday and I am not on any meds for the fibro and when I was they were short lived because they made me sick.

I was eating a slim jim and driving down the road when I bit into something so hard that it almost broke some of my other teeth (or at least felt that way). I spit it out and it was a filling with part of my tooth attached to it. I couldn't beleive it. So this might just be something that comes with Fibro. I do however grind my teeth when I'm in pain and since I'm in pain 90% of the time these days maybe thats why?

I have so much trouble with my teeth. Mostly my back teeth. I have 4 broken teeth. Some dont bother me at all, but I have one that hurts so bad. hurts all the time and even more so when I eat or drink anything cold or even room temp. only thing that does not seem to bother me much is warm drinks.

I would love to go and get them pulled. my insurance does not cover it. I asked how much for self pay. they wanted $700. per tooth. so I am just having to live with it. and I think I am going to buy stock in "dental gum" I know I buy a lot of it.

I guess I am not alone. I have some dental coverage, but they only cover pulling my teeth. I had a few done in the back, but I hate to let them pull any more because I like to be able to eat and chew my food!!! Its so ugly and embarrasing. I know its due to the meds I have to take, I just wish there was something we could do...Unless I win the lottery I can't afford to get my teeth done.

oh gosh - ya know i don't get too hung up on looks overall but i do think this is good to compare these not so publicized, add'l side effects or symptoms, so we can ask our docs (or beauticians)... wink-wink- i am sure you've seen the giggles at our bodies on the other thread. There is a thread here about the "best explanation" or differences between Fibro and Myofascail -- and the same specialist (Staryll?) lists the weirdest common denominators - that you woudl never think of - like post nasal drip...like 35 items -- i will send it if i can find it fast

My hairdresser suggested a clarifying shampoo. I thought that was for product/spray build up but she said not..to get the chemicals out of my hair follicle. And it did help. I grew my hair out because it hurt to much to dry it so i don't have to go as often. Thank god for ponytails!

My teeth are important and if this syndrome or meds might be causing me to loose them or cause me to loose them I think it should be discussed.

Who better to compare things that might be symptoms with other than people that have the same syndrome as you.

My teeth were getting loose from all the clenching day & night. After trying night guards, other muscle relaxers, biofeedback, massage...my dentist suggested vaillium. He had to call my pdoc to get her to prescribe them (because vallium is the most addicting benzo.) Since My teeth are so important to me, I take the vallium as prescribed. In not only keeps me from clenching but helps the stiffness in my neck. I don't care if some call me an addict. I'm keeping my teeth as long as I can.
