I am curious to know if anyone has used bioidentical hormones for relief of their fibromyalgia sypmptomes. I am a patient at Platt Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA (website drplatt.com). This practice specializes in the use of bioidentical hormones to control fibromyalgia, migraines, menopausal sypmptoms, weight control and a number of other conditions. Dr. Michael E. Platt has written a wonderful book called THE MIRACLE OF BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES, and in it he tells of how balancing a patient's hormones can alleviate most if not all of the pain of fibromyalgia. I know that in the year and a half I have been on progesterone and a small amount of testosterone, I have never felt better, have more energy than I did when I was 30 (I'm nearly 50), and I have been able to discontinue SIX medications (and believe me when I tell you I have been on every antidepressant, pain medication, Neurontin, Lyrica, you name it)! When you read the book, you will wonder if it's hype, it's not! I have no connection to this practice other than being a patient who is now convinced of how important hormonal balance is to everyone, fibromyalgia or no fibromyalgia! |
