Hi Sandi, I know exactly how you feel, the British system isn't any better. I had my medical on the 31st jan 08 and failed it but I appealed the decision on the 9th feb. I was told the appeal process could take anything up to 6 months and if it is not over turned it then goes to a tribunal. If it goes against me there I can reapply but I'll have to wait 6 months before I can do this. I also have the joy that while waiting for them to decide anything I was given the choice to stay on income support but at a 20% reduced rate, up side, WHEN I win I get all the money back-dated; oooooo I can see a trip to a craft fair in my future!!

I requested a copy of my medical assessment to see what the doctor had written, I thought my information had been mixed up with someone else's, it had been exaggerated, twisted, there were lies and words had been put in and left out to give it a negative interpretation. I was stunned that this doctor had done this, I have since put a complaint in against the assessment, with all the corrections. I was advised to be nice about it; I was f***in and blinding in my first draft!!

There were loads of mistakes but my two favorite were- Do you have a washing machine; I said yes. This translated into - she usually does the washing in a top load washing machine; I don't have a top load washing machine, and, I only wear glasses to read or use the computer; translation- I have stated that I have a significant visual impermanent; OK!!! I got so stressed I felt 100 times worse and I broke out in exma from head to toe. But I relised that I was stressing over something that, for now I can't do anything about. I've filled out all the paper work and sent it to them, I've done my part for now, I'll worry about it when they contact me and not before.

I know it feels like their sucking the life out of you but don't give up, get mad if you have to and don't allow them to stress you out. Get your paperwork in and then focus on how you can get yourself better; you do your thing and let them do theirs, you can't do anymore than that.

Remember your not alone, we've all been there or going through it, we might as well go through it together, ok!!

Hi Sandi! Please don't give up on this SSD. Most SSD judges don't understand this disease or anything else that it causes. They really need to educate themselves. I filed for disability and was turned down twice. Then, I got tired of fighting it and told my doctor what was happening. Much to my amazement, my doctor, (bless HER heart!)referred me to a Fibro Attorney, (bless HER heart, also!) who does nothing but fibro cases. We didn't file under fibro. We filed under chronic mental depression listed FIRST, then the rest, like the myofascial pain syndrome, the fibromyalgia, the reumatoid arthritus, chronic fatigue syndrome, Etc. Wouldn't you just know it! It's like they'll give it to you if you're depressed all of the time. And who wouldn't be when you suffer the pain, anxiety, and everything else that goes with it.

Let me tell you this, we my attorney and I went before the SSD judge, He really couldn't tell who was the attorney and who was the SSD applicant, because I dressed in my normal business attire and although I looked tired like I always do, I looked really nice. And you want to , too. The reason being, when I got to speak to the judge, I said, "Your Honor, I have worked as an Sales Consultant for the past 25 years and have been very successful at it. I truly don't want to quit working. Think about it. My earnings in sales, $50,000 annually versus SSD for $10,000 annually." And then I said no more. Within 10 minutes, I had my approval. Also, I'm over 50 years old and there seems to be a law in effect that makes it easier to get it if you're over 50. I don't know how old you are, but that will help if you are 50+. Otherwise, I think the case has to go before another judge or two.

These people make it so difficult, but just don't give up!

I'm sure you will eventually succeed!

Warm hugs to you! Daisy

PS If you'd like a copy of the letter sent to SSD from my attorney as a sample, let me know. I'll try to help you as much as I can.
