I joined the forum a couple of weeks ago. I had been doing okay when I joined and then everything went downhill. I have chronic headaches along with the FM. About a week-and-a-half ago my headaches became unbearable. After two trips to the ER my neurologist put me in the hospital. There they tried many different intravenous treatments. My headaches backed way off. I felt GREAT! I went ack to school and began to enjoy life again. Then a huge weather front came in. It hovered over top of us for three days. Each day I would wake up with the FM worse than the day before. Yeasterday I was playing around and doing flips for the first time in years. Last night I began to regret them. I woke up this morning sore and stiff. After coming home from church and spending some time in my new garden the flu-like feeling set in. Now I struggling with more pain just as I started feeling better. IT"S JUST NOT FAIR! I hate the stupid disease!

Do any of you have any advice for what to do during a flare. I'm willing to try just about anything!!

I'm so sorry that your not doing good. I wish I had some wonderful advice, but I cry my eyes out when it becomes to much.

I will pray that you start feeling better so that you can get back to enjoying life.

bubbly, what I do is take a hot bath (sink down in the tub so that the water comes up over your neck) or if you only have a shower let the hot water beat on the painful places. Then take it easy, find whatever position is most comfortable for you ( with me it's either the recliner or flat on my back in bed), take your pain meds if you have them and I pray that you do and wait it out.

(soft&gentle hugs to you)

I take my meds, take a hot bath or shower, then go to bed where I listen to relaxation cds. My hubby is super supportive, so he will keep the kids at bay while mommy rests. There are times tho that I need others around me (for distraction) and will watch movies together (mamma's choice of course ) And last but not least, I come here to talk to my fibro family.

Another thing that helps me is to track the length of times that the flares last. It helps to know that there is an end to the flare. Spring & Fall are always hard on me cuz of the weather changes, but it helps to have support around me to remind me that I do have good times too.

hI BUBBLY!Well everyones suggestions are pretty much what I do also.Hot showers, hot baths, going to bed,and listening to relaxing music. And not to forget take your meds, but you really have to pay close attention to what your doin to your body.As someone that has been suffering from Fibro for 20 years,I had to accept the fact that my life has been changed forever.I HAVE to take it easy.I CANNOT move furniture or do heavy lifting anymore. The sooner you realize your limitations sweety, the better off you'll be!Take care of you.And rest is a key factor in getting well. And remember your friends here,we are all here for you.Hope you feel better soon,Ill be praying for.~Big Gentle Warm Huggs~

Thank you all so much for your advice. I have been hesitant to take any pain pills, but I think I will try them or call my doctor for some that actually work. I do need to realize my limitations. Sometimes I let the good days take hold and before I know it I'm in a full blown flare. Again thank you all!!

Im in a full-blown flare and I can't stop feeling sorry for myself. I could'nt go to work today and thanks to my A..H...of a rhummy, all I have is celebrex and lidocaine patches. Thanks to my CRAPPY insurance (and dr phobia) I'm stuck with her. My pc is useless and just flatly refuses to prescribe anything narcotic.

I am stressed and depressed and cant break this cycle. Please Help.

I was in so much pain I had DH crying too. He's already called twice today (to see if I'm still alive?) We have a meeting at his company tomorrow with insurance rep. Seems I'm the "guest of honor". I have to come up with a list of out-of-pocket expenses we will be stuck with when they switch ins.

I need to find average cost of procedures (since we would have to pay 20% of everything) Any idea where I can find that info w/o knowing the codes?

psk try going online to one of your local hospitals. In my state of Ohio they have to post the prices of each procedure and rates on line or you can get it faxed to you or pick it up.
