Everyone here has been so supportive of things I have done for all of us lately, but now I am really reaching out for your help, advice and stories.

I am starting to really feel that I am either getting fat or I am retaining water like crazy!

For example in the morning my hands are VERY tight and in the evening, especially if I have been on my feet a lot my leggs feel like my skin would pop if I touched a pin to it.

What the heck is going on?

No, I am not eating junk food and yes I have started drinking more water (consistantly for the last week).

My meds are the following:

Lyrica 75mg in am and in pm - FM

Cymbalta 60mg - nerve "issuse"

Protonix 40mg in am and pm - reflex

Loradine 10 mg- chronic hives

Trazodone 25mg - sleep

I have lost my insurance and currently trying to find other means so I lowered my doses of Cymbalta from 90mg and Lyrica from 300mg over a month a go.

I know people have posted water retention before regarding medications so I was wondering is it the Lyrica, maybe? I have been on it for 6 months and I didn't have any problems ... can problems creep up later?

Please help? What are your experience? Is this a stage? What else could cause this?

Thank you SO MUCH for reading this!

HUGS

Amy

Jean,

Thank you! If is the Lyrica, maybe I should go off it. I will talk to my doctor and see. It has helped my pain but I feel like the GoodYear blimp (is it still around? I see all these others. Maybe I can apply to be the next new blimp! lol)

Thanks for your post!

HUGS!

Hi Amy,

Bloating and swelling are so uncomfortable, I know! I have trouble with my feet and ankles if I am on my feet a lot during the day. They swell up to twice their normal size and I cannot even see where my ankles are supposed to be! Usually laying down and elevating my feet will reduce the swelling. Often it is better after sleeping all night.

Another problem I have with swelling is from the Prednisone I have to take for my asthma. At the higher doses it causes water retention and especially abdominal swelling. I take Cymbalta also but don't think that is one of the side effects? Only taking 30 mg a day.

I have horrible PMS with my menstrual cycle that now lasts a full two weeks and it is soooooo uncomfortable...I always swell up like a water balloon and can't get my pants to snap! I look and feel about 5 months pregnant and it is just miserable. At least I know what it causing it but I say, menopause, bring it on! I'm almost 51 and have had enough of this!

I would suggest bringing up the swelling with your doctor because ankle swelling is sometimes a symptom of heart disease. Mine didn't seem too concerned with my swelling. She's not the one who has to fit grossly swollen feet into tight shoes, however! I have to wear flip flops when it's really bad like I did when I was pregnant!

Does anyone know of a natural water pill that is safe and actually works?

Amy,

Cymbalta & Lyrica both put weight on me, I'm off the Cymbalta now & lost some weight, but I still look like I have a big beer belly! & I don't drink. Lyrica is the winner of the blimp contest

Try & rest some & keep your feet up. I drink a ton of water & it doesn't seem to help?

I forgot to say, the real weight issue & swelling started at 225mg of Lyrica.

I don't know what to do. I was on 225mg but decrease it. I have gained 70 pounds total in one year. I was on neurotin (gained), then Cymbalta (gained) now Lyrica.

I can't take much more! I am going to work on posting before and after pictures and you will know what I am talking about!

Amy, I live near Akron where the Goodyear blimps are manufactured! They should just stick my body in the middle of the outer layer of it...

The blimps fly overhead frequently around here. Once I saw a "parade" of five them overhead in a straight line when I was working in downtown Akron. Do you suppose they were really fibromites on high doses of Lyrica?

Amy, I am at wit's end about my weight gain and bloating too...40 lbs in last year and I'm not even on Lyrica, just Cymbalta and Prednisone (for something else not fibro). It is soooooo depressing and debilitating to be swollen up like this, worse than when I was pregnant. I am madly PMS'ing right now and can't fasten my "big" jeans. I have several sizes in my closet and each month I need all 3 sizes due to fluid fluctuation with my menstrual cycle. It was never this bad before fibro, however. I will keep you in my prayers, and if you find an answer on how to get rid of this bloat please let us all know!

I am overweight and am staying away from Lyrica for the reason that it dose cause wt. gain. But it sounds like you are retaining H2o. May be the drugs.
