Hey allSmile I have been thinking and I really want to list the positive that can come out of us having IC,FM,IBS,CFS etc. The last couple of days I have been mourning my life prior to all of this and grieving the loss of the life I thought I should have. I have had to come to the conclusion that when I start working again it will have to be on a part time basis. That is so hard for me to accept since I worked so hard to obtain my bachelors degree. But I have to look for some sunshine in this stormy weather of life.

Soooooo lets start with listing 1 or more positive aspects of our situation. You can list your situation and try to come up with a positive aspect of it.

Here I go:

I am currently unemployed as my FMLA exhausted and my long term disability was denied b/c my fibro is a pre existing condition. My former job was extremely stressfula and I did not have a passion for it.But, now I can sleep as much as I want while I'm in pain and my cfs is acting up. Since I'm on unemployment I can look for a new job in an industry I'm passionate about. Since when I do go back into the workforce on a part time basis, I will be less tired, can be a better wife, have a better quality of life, spend more time with my cat and when I have a baby I can spend more time with my child.

Now you trySmile

It's made me slow down and spend more time with family. I have more empathy for others. I've met all of you.

It's made me know what is truly important in my life and not worry so much about letting others down...I DON'T have to do it all.

My kids have lived through this and have turned into very caring and compassionate human beings, they do not judge and they care. Awesome qualities in teenagers these days.

This was a great idea Alisha, thank you

Love,
Casty

Great Ladies!! If you think of something else , post againSmile

I care so much about all of you. FM has taken so much from us but like all of you have proven it has given us something as well.

I will also say that fm, ic and ibs has strengthened my marriage, relationship and friendshipw w/ my husband. He was w/ me when I was healthy and married me when I had fm and ic.

I will continue to think of positive things and post as well.

Gentle and positive hugs,

Alisha

I have learned to say no to things (sometimes ) Smile and it has slowed me down a little (LOL Maybe)it definately has made me appreciate walking now that I can (kinda with a limp but getting better) and if I wasnt already compassionate enough about people it has made me more so.. but also has made me a stronger person and a more determined person...With all my ailments i have only stood up once more and walked thru the disease a deal with life as it comes.. I learned to be less judgemental of other people...never even realized that I was. I am also even stronger than I already knew I was. Smile

Through stillness...I have come to know myself

Through quietness...I have learned to listen

Through fatigue...I have learned the feeling of inpowerment from a job well done, such as finishing dishes

Through pain...I have learned the meaning of moments

Through tears...I have learned geniune joy

Through being (almost) isolated...I have learned I am not

Through worry....I have learned peace

Through denial...I have learned acceptence

Through pity (of myself)...I have learned great strength

Through sadness...I have learned to laugh

Through fright...I have learned courage

Through doubt...I have learned greater faith

Through all of these...I have learned great love

Smile O.K. Here goes!!!

I have Fibro/EBV/Sleep Disorder/Asthma and RLS. I do work part-time, and have time now to spend doing things around my home, learning to embrodry on my sewing machine, trying some new cooking ideas on my unsuspecting husband, and play with my little dog. Even if some days I have lots of pain, on those days I take it easy, however when I am pain free, (or what we call "pain free"), I do what I enjoy. In working, I work 3-days per-week, (tues/wed/thurs/)and as a Medical Record Specialist, pain or not, I do go to work. I am very fortunate, I work for my doctor, and there have been times that she has sent me home because she could see my pain. I have to becareful because of the asthma, this has put me down more often the everything else. But on the whole, my fibro, etc. has taught more valuable lessons, than I learned before fibro days. I do have a high respect for all my medical problems, however I have more self-respect now, than before. I know my limits, but I also know that I can go right up to those limits and sometime beyond.
