Is it really neccesary to take these for fibro pain? I'm going to start taking Zoloft tonight because all the other antidepressants I have tried caused me bad reactions and I have taken zoloft in the past with no bad side effects. I only asked to be put on zoloft because I live in all this pain with no pain meds and sometimes I feel like I will loose my mind, but once I get something to help deal with the pain is this really needed?

I have 'many' diseases to deal with on a daily basis, let alone Fibro. I have finally found the drug 'Lyrica' at a dose of 150mg 2 times daily works well. For all the muscle spasms and problems I take "Tizanidine" at a dose of 4 mg ~ 1 tab 3 times per day and it has worked out great. When I am really knotted up, I take 2-3 of the Tizanidine and before I know it, I am relaxed, out of pain and can actually sleep. Took alot of experimentation to get here, but it does provide alot of relief to my knotted muscles.

I am currently on "Celexa" for depression, yet am still depressed. I go to the doctor today to discuss this subject, but has anyone else found another drug that works better? Or maybe even a higher dosage of Celexa? Spring is here and I really want to enjoy my new house and the building of a garden area. Sure helps the depression digging in the dirt.

I send good thoughts and wishes to all out there suffering like me. Not many people understand what it is like to go through a day hurting from the top of your head to our toenails. Thanks for the warm welcome.

I tried the Lyrica and neve noticed a difference in my pain, but it made me so sick from all te spinning. I have chronic dizziness as well and this is the only time a med has effected it. It was so bad I had to sleep sitting up in a chair which only made my fibro pain worse. I even tried cymbalta and it made me violently ill. I dont know why I do ok with some meds but not others. It gets frustrating to when you have a doc that uses all their other patients as an example instead of treating you and listening to you. It's like I'm really happy for patient X, but I'm not patient X so lets get me something that works for me.

I too was sick at first with Lyrica. I thought it was a waste of money and then suddenly, when they upped the dose to 150mg 3 times per day, I ate something after I took the pill and it suddenly took all the pain away. I too have a doctor at the "Cleveland Clinic Pain Mgmt grp'....and every visit is like an assembly line. yeah, yeah,,take this, do that, without any emotion. I get more response from my Internal Med Doctor, than at the pain clinic, but they have combined several of my meds into one. I'm now on "Avinza" which is a form of Morphine, but with the combo of the Avinza and Lyrica, I can function on a daily basis. I have to go to a doctor appt now, but will post more thoughts later. I am going to talk to my doctor today about my depression and the fibro pain that comes with it. Enjoy the day....

I don't think the anti-depressants help with pain all that much. I think mainly people take them to deal with the sadness of having to live with pain and all that can come with having to deal with that on a daily basis.

My sister and I both take Cymbalta and it did seem to help with jist a itty bit of the overall pain but not really much.

Cadburry, I have been on Anti Dep for more than 20 years, it seems once your on them you just stay on them. About 8 months ago when I went trough my flare. I talked to a new doctor about the Welbutron, and the other new one...can't think, They really messed me up, so this new doctor put me on prozac and that sent me into a tail spin with anxiety attacks. 2 months of that and they took me off of it. So I was going in for my paps to Doctor Rauh, and he said I really didn't need that type of anti dep because what he could tell I wasn't really depressed. He said I had more anxiety then anything so he put me back on Paxil which was what I was on years ago and did so well, butttt it does affect the sexual side which is why I started trying other stuff in the first place and got so messed up. And now my outlook, energy, and I noticed my desire for my interest are so much better. So I quess what Iam trying to say is make sure you have depression before you start to take Anti dep. or it can mess with you. Sorry Cadburry I got carried away, I just get on a roll about all these medicines and doctors just handing them out right and left,[except pain medicine.} It scares me, I have seen so many women messed up because they are on the wrong thing. This probley dosent help your outlook butI don't want you to spiral. Kaze

I have chronic depression combined with a high anxiety level. So I take Trazadone for depression and clonazepam for the anxiety. I don't know if it helps the pain or not but it sure does help the depression and anxiety and helps me to sleep. For the Fibro, I take Ketoprofen. Oh yes, I also take Lexapro in the morning for depression as well.

I just wanted to let you know that I used to take clonazepam for my anxiety as well. It DID help with the pain a LOT! Ya know...it slows ya down and helps you relax, so your muscles can't help but relax even though it's not a muscle relaxer. That's how it worked for me anyhow. My doc told me that it WOULD help with the pain...but I didn't believe him until I STOPPED taking it...the pain got worse!

I currently take zoloft, 50mg once a day. I broke down and cried on my Rheum doctor the other day and he suggested I see a Pshychologist. I told him I didnt think i was depressed I am just mad. There is so much I want to do and miss doing it really makes me angry. As far as the zoloft helping with pain, I dont think it does for me, it helps me get through work without getting all stressed.
