I was wondering if anyone else gets really pain sinus pressure under their eyes and above their eyes. Is this linked to fibro? I started getting these about a year prior to being diagnosed with fibro. This pain and pressure makes doing anything difficult because it makes me feel so dizzy. I was curious if it is related to fibro or my allergies. thanks!

Yes, have sinus problems ALL the time! It is a symptom of fibro. but so is increased chemical sensitivities and allergies. I had no allergy problems before fibro. Nothing bothered me!! Now, all kinds of things bother me and bring on allergy type symptoms. I also read that our sinus fluids back up in our sinuses because of muscle constriction and causes us problems. These fluids become thickened and sometimes infected. I have trouble with chronic sinus infections. I'm sure this is probably part of an immune system response gone haywire! Our immune system just doesn't function well anymore. And, this is a part of FMS and CFS. I use a saline rinse in my sinuses. It really does help if you will use it regularly. I sometimes forget and can tell a difference. Antihistamines and decongestants do help some people also.

Hugs to You!

Thanks Red. What types of decongestants do you take? i've ben using sudafed and nasonex and today it is a little better, but it hasn't went away. It is really frustrating because it seems as though my eyes are swollen and that my head is going to explode from all of the pressure.

i get sinus headaches ALL the time. Ive always got something; bronchitis, colds, ear infections, sinus infections... the list goes on. The thing i don't understand is that my doctor say my immune sys. is fine and that fibro's not an autoimmune disorder, but im constantly sick! obviously somethings not working.

And as far as taking medications for colds and whatnot you have to be cautious on what you can take. I am on Cymbalta for my fibro and with that i was told your not allowed to take ANY type of cold/sinus medicine.

hello everyone. I too get sinus infections quite often and my family doctor put me on nasonex. I have a low immune system also. Wether that in itself is linked to the fibro, I may never know. As a young child I had frequent ear infections and my left ear drum ruptured when I was five years old causes me to have hearing tests throughout. Just this past week I went to have a a hearing test through a company called Sonus and I have to wear hearing aids . I have severe nerve damage to my ears, and drainage as well, and I often wonder if that is in connection with the sinus infections? They say that ringing of the ears is a symptom that us fibromites suffer from, so it is all kind of a mystery, yet it all makes sense, doesn't it? Keep your head high and to the sky

JustAnnie, so sorry to hear about all the ear problems. I hope they can find something that helps that. Also love the cartoon!! I would like to use that one!!

I agree that you need to be careful what medications you take if you are on other Meds for fibro.! You need to check with your doctor before taking anything. I am not on any fibro. meds right now. I am seeing a chiropractor/naturopath and trying to control it with natural supplements, adjustments, and other work we do, etc. I had tried the medicine route and had sooo many side affects and reactions to the drugs that I finally gave them up. Not to mention I lost my insurance and some of those doctors and meds are really expensive. My chiro. gives me an herbal product called D-Hist for my sinus allergy and congestion problems. It usually works pretty well, but I still have some flares that it just isn't always enough. I then use the saline rinse and that helps a lot. Besides, bacteria have a hard time living in an alkaline environment -- which the salt water rinse creates.

As far as the immune system goes.... I know a lot of doctors will say this is not an autoimmune condition, but our immune systems are affected negatively. We have to remember that sleep deprivation in itself lowers our immune system's abilities to deal with infection. Then, this becomes a perpetuating factor.

This is sooo wild how it affects all of us! I'm reading "The Fibromyalgia Advocate" by Devin J. Starlanyl, M.D. It's filled with all kinds of info. Maybe it could help some of you too

I do have sinus problems all the time. I take Clariton and that helps. I also get flu shots every year which helps a lot. I have asthma, so my pulmonolgist recommended I get them. I used to have chronic bronchitis and it would start with sinus infections. Since I've gotten the flu shot, I haven't had the flu. I know it's controversial issue, but I'm going to keep getting it.

mamanordy... I asked today and my doc said i could use a nasal spray, but to watch the different cold meds. Some cold medications say right on the bottle not to take if you are on antidepressants.

I hate that every doctor has something different to say, it confuses me!!
