DRIVING me nuts but not you to DEATH

I choose not to drive, not because I am physically incapable of it, but rather because doing so would not be safe. Having a driver on the road that is exhausted to the extreme and in the fog is a danger to myself and to anyone that might be near me on the road. So, before something bad happens that I would regret, I have chosen not to drive.

So, are you taking or causing a risk when you drive? Should you be driving?

Think about it...

Best regards,

R.

I do not drive anymore either because of blacking out spells and because of fibro fog. I dont really miss it too much, sometimes I do.

I have no choice but to drive. I am the single mother of two kids not old enough to drive yet, and there is no one else around to do errands like grocery shopping and getting them to activities, etc.

I had to ask my doctor for something to help me stay alert on the road.

Right now I am taking Ritalin, but hopefully my insurance will approve the Provigil. It does help with focus, attention, and not nodding off

or feeling like I need to go to bed to nap during the day.

I limit my driving activities,or try to, to my good days, and my good part of the day, which for me, is late afternoon to early evening.

If I have to go on longer drives I stop often and take frequent rest breaks.

I respect those who have given up driving completely for safety reasons. It is hard enough to have this disease without having to worry about causing a bad accident.

I only drive now when I absolutely have to. I really prefer not to drive at all.

I don't drive anymore either due to black out spells and fibro fog. Sometimes I really miss the independence that it gave me, but am learning to like beig chauffered everywhere.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

I don't drive anymore either. Due to meds and foot pain. It's hard to be house bound, but I'd rather do that than take a chance out on the road.

I don't drive anymore except if its a close distance. And I mean VERY close. Not because I can't...I don't know if I can or not, but because I don't feel that its safe. My reflexes can't be good on all these meds. I have trouble enough just figuring out how to get room to room without triping over the cat or dog!! LOL. I don't want to put others in danger. My councelor said we are going to work on getting me driving again. Maybe she's got a way to help with my fog, but that's the only way.

I have to drive a company truck with my name and phone # painted on it. Talk about being responsible for your actions...I'm very careful and havn't had a problem (EXCEPT the brief period when I was on Lyrica).

AAAHHHH driving..... not like it used to be! I have two school age children and the school doesn't care how I get them there, just that I do! We live out of district, so there is no school bus here. I wish I had someone who would volunteer to take them and pick them up for me everyday, but I don't have anyone willing to make that commitment - not even family that's not working! However, I am not taking any Meds. whatsoever... only ibuprofen to try to keep the migraines at bay! I have been seeing a chiropractor/naturopath and told them the main thing I need to be able to do is get my kids to school. So, we have worked very hard to keep me in good enough shape to drive most days. On days I know my head is too messed up due to a headache, my husband has to take off work to get them. The pain is not fun, but I know that I don't have any meds affecting my driving. Of course I can tell when not to drive because I just somehow can't miss the GIANT headache!! I really don't miss driving at all, but do miss the freedom it brings.
