Has anyone had severe side effects from Cymbalta? Most of the meds I have been prescribed produce side effects that end up being worse than my pain

Hi vizinz,

I can't take Cymbalta either! It makes me so terribly nauseated I can't move for three days after I take it. I tried to take it two different times and it did the same thing. I told them I would rather be in pain. I am not on any regular meds right now. I have trouble taking anything. I am now seeing a naturopath to try herbs and supplements. They have made a difference for me. My pain is now usually bearable. I notice that stress is usually what really brings up my pain levels. If I control this, I do better. Instead of an 8 or 9 on a pain scale, I now have some days at 3 or so. It's usually the fatigue that really gets me. I wear out really fast!

Glad you found us! There is a lot of support here!

vizinz,

I wish I did have a wonderful secret to share with all of you that would eliminate ALL stress! Unfortunately, we all have different things that stress us. I am learning to deal with my stressors (and there are a lot of them!). It is taking a lot of work on my part. I have found I can't always change how others behave or the circumstances I find myself in, but I can change the way I perceive them. I am the one in control of my thoughts. I am working on deep breathing and focusing on one thing that really makes me happy. It's hard, but I try to stay in this mode as long as possible, just letting things go on around me. Observing them, but not letting them affect the way I feel. This is just something that works for me. I have trouble staying in this mode, but I keep practicing.

I also have a bunch of "feel good" movies I keep around for bad days. These will usually put me in a good mood. If I'm in a good mood I am able to handle my stressors better. I am also better about taking care of myself. I like looooong hot baths, soft music, candlelight, - just for me!! I make time for these kinds of things and my day goes better! I don't get to do this everyday, but it's a nice special treat for myself.

I also come here to lean on others when I'm down. They do a wonderful job of making me feel better!!

Hope this helps a little!!

The only thing I didnt like about the Cymbalta is that it made me feel emotionless. Today is my last day on it. I have been tapering off.

It did help my leg pain, and I can already feel my leg pain coming back.

Oh and it did make me gain weight.
