MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Hey thomasann you are not the only one who has memory problems. I don't know how bad it can get, only how bad mine gets. I forget to make phone calls,or why I am in the bathroom, duh . I forget where I put my doffee cup only to find in the window sill or the fridge. I think we all have fobro fog to some degree it depends on the day and our bodies.Oh yeah,Ican't spell alot of the words that should be simple to spell. Hang in there dear we all have our bad days adn good days.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.

You know you are in the worse possible stage when you can say your fibro fog has gotten so, bad that you lay a bank envelope on a counter to pay for something and it had 500 dollars in it. You took only enough out to pay for your iten which was less than 20 dollars and left the envelope on the counter.

Now someone is really happy you have fibro fog but, it sure makes you wonder if you might need someone with you to watch your every move. That can get expensive.

That taught me when the fog is back I stay home, I never drive or go anywhere by myself. Talk about upset that brought tears to my eyes. I live on a very limited budget. I just hope who ever got that neede it worse than i did. They didnt turn it in to the store.

When I got home 20 mim later I thought about the envelope and remembered leaving it on the counter. The clerk said it was gone and no one turned it in. lololol

Don't worry about putting on two pair of glasses, or putting your glasses in the frig. just be glad you know in advance this is not the day you need to go anywhere by your self. lolololol

Don't forget the amount of medicine we each take. Especially that pain meds. These add to the fibro fog experience and make it harder for us to function. The normal person also makes these common every day mistakes or what we refer to as boo boo's. I have mailed the bills with no stamps. Run the washer with no clothes. Served a raw turkey. It's just part of our disease and we have to fight letting it get us down. I just try to look at it as a symptom. That way I don't personalize it too much. I will be posting a comment later tonight about my visit to John Hopkins today. I went for my migraines but it turned out to be all about fibromyalgia.

I hope this helps you,

Your fellow forgetter,

Sandi

I'll be in the middle of talking about something and totally forget what I was talking about and have to be reminded. I even had trouble remembering that a fork was called a fork last week.I'm 27 and not on any heavy pain meds! My mom is so concerned about my forgetfulness that she told my doctor about it!

I am starting to study fibromyalgia its causes and exactly what it is all about since it seems it is going to be my companion for a long, long time. From what I can understand forgeting is just part of it. I am sorry that you are so effected at such a young age. My doctor put me on medicine to increase my concentration and try to help my memory. I think it was CONCERTA. it is actually a drug for adhd. Maybe you could ask your doctor if you could try something like that. I will tell you that I really didn't see a difference, so I didn't stay on it long. Sandi

Cadburry,

I'm not on pain meds either. I am 42, but I don't think that is over the hill yet!? I also forget what I'm talking about, lose words, go to rooms and not remember why, sit out my vitamin bottles - pick up my glass of water- notice something out the window - then look back and I can't remember if I already took them or not!!! Then I'm afraid to take them, because what if I already did??? This is what happens on my bad days. I could go on and on. I make up systems to help me remember things. I turn my pill bottles over as soon as I take the pill, so I know I took it. I tried a pill box - but that didn't work for me. Turning them over worked best for me. So, it seems a lot of us have this same problem to some extent.

I have the same problem. I can;t remember what I did ten minutes after I did it. I find errors I've made and for the life of me I can't figure out why I did it. Just today, I wrote a check for $12,000.00 and it should have been for $6,000.00. I left my boss screaming at me about keeping my mind on what I am doing. What mind?

I have a little more time now. I think the way I have handled this is: I now have a key holder right inside my door to hold my car keys, I have a bullitin board in my kitchen to keep track of events and messages, I keep my purse and wallet in the same order so I can find what I am looking for, and I keep my pills organized in a big container. I guess the easiest wasy to describe my life is organized. This way if I have a bad day or I am in a fibro fog, I can find my way through. My life is not the same anymore. Somedays I can handle that and other days it is really hard. I cannot do without the pain meds though. I take them when absolutely necessary, but I do need them. Please everybody hang in there.

Fog can be anywhere from mild, briefly forgetting something before it clicks, to severe, forgetting where you put something, can't remember a long known phone number, words get lost while you try to speak them. If you have a family history of Altzheimer's and depending on your age, it might be a good idea to have it looked in to.

Yeah, I know, yet another doctor and more testing, but I would rather rule it out than to place false blame.

Meds other than anti-depressants can cause memory problems too.

I almost got in to a full blown argument with someone I knew because I could not find a ring I thought I had in my bathroom before they went in there (they had been accused of stealing previously). When this person asked me to describe it and I did, she pointed out that I was wearing it. I felt like a total ass and apologized to no end explaining that I have FM. She graciously brushed it off because her sister has FM as well and she understands. What a saint!
