By this I mean, family that monitors your medication intake, for instance your pain pills. When I went to the pain clinic last week, he could tell that I was suffering. He asked me if I was limiting myself with my pain medication again, since this had been a problem in the past. I asid yes. What I didn't say is that my family attacks me because of my pain medication with comments such as: Oh, I can see she took he pills today, or I think he has you on too much medicine, or I am afraid you are going to get addicted to the meds and the best on from my brother--I may be an alcoholic, but you are a pill popper. I take only what I need and most of the time walk around in constant pain because I have to drive and take care of the family. I don't think they realize how much their feelings hurt me. They make jokes about my weight 125 now 165lbs. And yesterday, my husband telling me I couldn't hold my grandson for very long because I don't do any form of exercise. He had a cold one weekend and he never got out of a chair except to shower and go to bed. So I know if he had Fibro, he wouldn't do one-tenth of what I do. I think, I am just to the point that I am sick of everyone. I hurt so bad and if I finally let loose and tell someone, they start telling me how bad they feel. At church, they treat me like I have a psychological illness. These are the same people that called me on the phone for advice on medical issues whan I was still working. Now because I have unresolved pain, I am suddenly crazy. Sorry to vent, but yesterday, was a really bad day.

Dear Sandi,

If I'm vacuuming it must be the vicodin and if i'm napping it must be the vallium. I know exactly what you mean and it really pisses me off. I get it from my husband who i've even dragged to the rhummy with me, but he still refuses to accept that i'm sick.

We're having financial problems too, so I'm going back to work and scared that I'll have a relapse (I have lupus too). I feel like he cares about $$$ more than me.

Thanks for letting me vent too.

Oh yeah, I get negative remarks. If I am reallly tired-"What drugs did you take today?" or if maybe feeling a bit energetic- "Did you take some sort of upper?" I get sick of it. I get a lot of negativity about why I am so tired and sore all the time,dh says I need to get more exercise. Ok, what is HIS problem? He is overweight and tired and sore all the time. Yep, I get it too

Oh yeah, I forgot about him asking if I've been to the gym (my membership expired a year ago). He thinks exercise will help.

My Dear Sandi,

My heart went out to you the moment I read this. I have seen many of your posts and you have always been so supportive to others on this site. I wish you were getting the same support at home.

My diagnosis is fairly new, Jan 08, and my family doesn't realize that I am sick and expects me to march on as normal. I have wanted to put a fake cast on my leg and that way all the things I can't do would be more "visible" to them.

Can't give much advice but I can give ya my love,

I am here! Amy

My Dear Sandi,

OMG You just described me life! I have a friend that thinks if I would just put it in my head that I have no pain , then the pain would go away.He too gives me hard time about all the meds I am a taking and like you I try only to take them when necessary. I am tired of hearing that I don't do as much as I used to and that my house is not as clean as it used to be and that I don't cook all the time and mostly that I could work if I really wanted to1 My heart breaks for you. Just hang in there and ignore the people that lack knowledge and understanding of fibro. We are all here to support you.

Let them walk one dy in our shoes. That's what I wish for! PM me anytime/

Tami

I know exactly what you mean. My boyfreind says, your lazy. I'm not lazy! He seems to forget that I used to work 56 hours a week and then come home and take care of the house and kids.I always had my 40 hours in by Thursday so Friday and Saturday was always overtime. He makes me want to scream sometimes. My mom says she will be there for me and then comes over to tell how terrible my house looks.I'm like, you think I want my house to look like this!

Oh and I love this one, my boyfriend says, well your well enough to sit at that computer so your well enough to be up cleaning. Ok yeah but me sitting here at the computer doesn't involve me being on my legs and feet.Plus sometimes my arms and hands hurt to bad to be on, and I also get so fatigued that I have to lay down allot.

I'm not sick, I'm just lazy!

Yeah right!

When I was working my boss took me to lunch and told me that I was not giing 100% that I could not receive any more phone calls because I got sidetracked and it took me awhile to get back to my work mode. She knew I had lost my hair and was wearing wig, she know my parents had alzheimer's like they would remember not to call me. When i finally told her I was giving her three weeks notice she took me to lunch and told they didn't need me any more but to come in the next Thursday so I could show her how to do what I was doing. On the Fibro Association website they say to get a clothespin the snappy kind and have the person put it on their finger and see how long they can keep it their without having to take it off that is the type of pain we feel ALL the time. I don't know if it woulod work but I would try it. Good Luck. I'm here for you.

jgamble I am sorry to hear your boss idd that. I think it is NONE of their business about your health issues. And I am not sure they would have a valid reason to fire you for your health issues... did you receive unemployment?
