MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Just lately, i dont know why ive been waking up with a bad headache. It's very painful. If i take a pain pill I get sleepy. I'm also having trouble staying awake. I get on the computer and wha la, a headache begins and i am so tired i cant keep my eyes open, i am just not able to stay awake. Plz help if u can, is there something i could do to stop doing wanting to go to sleep! And to help my headaches go away 1st thing in the AM. Without pain meds?

I know that staring at a computer screen has proven to not be good on the eyes. Also, I had that same problem...computer = Headache! I went to the eye doctor and came home with glasses!

Have you noticed any 'floaters'? How about watching TV? Does that give you a headache, or reading?

Maybe it's your eyes!! It took me a looooong time to put the 2 together!

Just a suggestion...

I agree with suzee about checking the eyes out. I do have floaters and get tired reading and after a while on the computer. I try to take longer breaks when I'm doing these activities. My eyesight changes regularly. The muscles on the right side of my face have put enough pressure on my right eye that it now sees differently than the left eye (if that makes sense). Crazy stuff. It changes so often that I don't know how I would keep up with getting glasses.

I was also waking up with a terrible headache. However, I found out that I was clenching my jaws when I sleep because of the pain I was in. I have been told I have TMJ and now have to wear a mouthguard during the day and at night. It helped so much at night. I don't wake up with intense headaches in the morning anymore. Still some sinus headaches in morning, but not the intense - going to be a migraine soon - type of headaches.

Hope this helps!

I agree with Suzee & Red2, could be a combo of the eyes & clenching your teeth/jaw. Which reminds me I do for an update on my eye exam.

I hope your headache goes away soon.

I get headaches too. Have you tried using an icepack? Sometimes if I put it at the base of my neck for a while it helps.

I also agree with getting the eyes checked out. Worth a try.

I have had headaches since I was in second grade. Different things work for different headaches. Eyes are the first place to check. Check your posture to. You could sleep at a wierd angle and put pressure on your spine. It is also common to slouch at the computer- again postural. It's just a thought, but posture helps with FM in general.

I use Fioricet, it works like a charm for me, it has some caffeine in it so it doesnt make me want to go to sleep. Another name for it is Bupap./
