Hi Everyone!

I'm new here but have be on Savella for 5 weeks now. I believe my pain levels are better but I have a rapid heart rate. 2weeks ago I joined a health club because it had a warm water therapy pool. I have been faithly going, but the last week I noticed my heart palpatating. Last night I went for my overview eveluation and the trainer was shocked that my resting heart rate was 118! I hate the way it makes me feel. I also have a heart mummer. I am going to call my PCP when they open, but I'm afraid they'll make me stop the Savella. It seems to help my pain so much though. I was wondering if anyone else had this issue and if there was possibly a med to counter act this side effect??

Welcome cargirl!

I'm on 200mg of Lyrica a day,with 60mg of Cymbalta for pain.

The Lyrica has caused me to gain weight,(although I'm the one that puts the cookies in my mouth!),but it has helped my pain tremendously. Before I switched to Cymbalta,I was on Effexor which had some of the same side effects that you are describing. I had palpations

and a constant feeling of being a bit shaky, like I had had too much coffee. I had to take it very early in the morning on order to be able to sleep at night.

I just couldn't stand it,and asked to be switched.

Hang in!

Gentle Hugs,kateSmile

Hi Carrgirl, I can't take savella due to a heart condition. There is a med called Toprol that I take to lower my heart rate. Without meds my resting heart rate is between 120-160 which is crazy. This brings it down to around 100.

Thanks for that info. I just got an appointment this afternoon with my PCP and I will ask about Toprol. I hate to stop the Savella because I do think it's helping but this pounding is nuts....and scarey!

I'm an Advocate

Sweetness, welcome to the Wonderful World of Mighty Fibromites! I'm so happy to meet you!

Definitely talk to your doctor about it. Maybe it's a symptom that goes away? It would be a shame to have to stop it if you think it's helping.

Don't worry, though, there are still many, many other things you can try. I started a new one about 4 weeks ago that has totally changed my life. My pain is nil. What little there is I can handle with just ibuprofen or aspirin. Let me know if you would like the info on it.

Meanwhile, please make yourself at home! Post away to your heart's content. That's the best way to get as much out of the goup as possible. I can almost guarantee you'll make some terrific friends along the way. We really have just a tremendous group here.

I hope that you and I have the chance to get to know each other. Most definitely Smile

Welcome Carrgirl, I am also taking Savella. I do not have any side effects from it whatsoever. What dose are you on? I am on 100 mg daily and only been on it now for 12 days. I also take Lyrica, 450mg daily. I sure hope you do not have to stop taking the Savella. The Lyrica is horrible in the weight department and Savella is not.

Good Luck with your appointment today! Let us know how it goes. I also have an appointment and getting ready as I type this. Crazy huh, getting dressed and on MDJunction at the same time.

The best kind of friend is the kind you can sit on a porch and swing with, never say a word, and then walk away feeling like it was the best conversation you've ever had.

I am just like you and I am on MDJ for support and true friendship. Please, always consult with your doctor about medical advice and medication, never take one's opinion regarding your most precious asset which is your life.

Welcome to our group or should I say family? You are going to love it here. It is the best place for support, information and to share stories with people that know exactly what you go through.

I am in the same boat as Steff and take the same med. My resting heartrate was 180 before the med and now is usually around 85-90. It's a very safe med too.

Looking forward to getting to know you,let us know how you make out.

Hi CarrgirlSmile

My heart rate is also fast and I have tricuspid prolapse. My rheum started me on Savella today and also gave me Toprol for the palpitations. He said it was a very safe medication. Good luck to you and I'll keep you posted about how it works for me.

Take Care,

Cheerful Suzy
