Health Clinics in my Area

Hello Everyone! I sure hope you all are having a great day.

Well, out of curiosity, I went to the website for the Local Government Assistance Programs. I filled out the very long questionnaire and after I submitted it, I was excited that it had found 31 programs that would benefit my individual household.

The programs consisted of Job Placement, Child Care Resources, and Local Health Clinics. I do not need Job Placement assistance or Child Care assistance. I do need Health Care Assistance the most. So, It pulled up the local Health Care Clinics in my surrounding area. I am still excited until I call these places.

The Clinics are mostly run by Nurse Practitioners and have no Doctor on site. The lady, Mary, explained how it all works. Mary said that she is familiar with Fibro and most clinics or doctors do not even want to mess with it. They do not like to dispense Narcotics and probably would not be of any help. The clinic that is closest to me will have a doctor in 2 weeks, but he does not like to dispense any type of narcotic or pain relievers, so Mary assured me that people with Fibro need to see someone that will dispense narcotics or pain killers. Huh?

That is how far I got with the local health programs. Why even see these guys if they do not like messing with people with Fibro?

Upset Now! Unsure

Elizabeth

OH YAH!! My PC doc is not familiar with FM and is only treating me cuz I went through the Pain Clinic. So as of now I am only on tramodal and lyrica through her. If I get worse I don't know where I will end up going.

As I said my PC is not familiar with FM and is not willing to educate herself on it either. I guess I should start checking out other docs in the area.

tramadol and lyrica? do you find those help? I am afraid of Lyrica because so many complaints about weight gain. Cymbalta does nothing for me except give me side effects. I'm not sure what tramadol is. I also take Norco. I see a new doctor, an Internist. He doesn't like the narco's the pain specialist prescribed. He didn't seem to think much of taking meds - feels too many people take too many meds. I would welcome any advise on this!! Wassat

I'm sorry you hit a dead end. Just remember when God closes one door he opens another. Maybe you could at least go so they can get you started on other prescriptions. Muscle relaxers helps a great deal too so maybe it wouldn't hurt just to see what they "can" do for you.

What a mess. I'm sorry lovey~kins! Hope this makes you feel better. Silly

Hi,

You are right the muscle relaxers help, also see if they will give you neurotonin, which helps with the pain and the burning of the muscles - Good LuckWink

Oh, Kiss me you, fool! I LOVE that one, Bo!

Liz, I know you're upset, but look on the positive side. At least she was honest with you. You didn't have to waste a lot of time and effort going there only to find out that they wouldn't help you.

We'll figure something out, sweetness. We'll all put our heads together and figure out something... Or we'll die trying!

NP hugs, Tina

It's ok Tina, I do have a PM lined up to see in about another month. I was just curious. My husband works and we have always managed. I just figured that there would be help out there for people that need help now, or had no other options available to them at all. I actually thought that I might qualify for something, since these darn doctors are so expensive. But I tell you what, it just takes time and it takes money. I have been reading on some of the other threads how much these meds are, like Cymbalta being $367, yikes, I am kinda tripping out. What if you can not afford your meds one month? You either eat or have your meds, but by golly you can not have them both. What about withdrawals, and can you imagine the pain slamming you? Gheez, yeah I get a little scared with this whole mess.

Like I said, I have a PM doctor lined up to see in about a month. He wants $350 for the first visit and he believes in Fibro. He also has a Fibro package, can you believe that? A Fibro Package. Wow. I am excited to see him.
