I started Lyrica recently as well....75 mg at nite, 75 mg in late am..... I am doing GREAT! It took a couple of days to kick in, probably somewhere around 3 or 4 days.... I am sleeping better than I have in 15 years. My IBS is under control after two weeks (WOWOWOWOW!!!!) no more sugar roller coasters, and the pain has decreased by about 80%. My energy level is higher than it has been in years and I have lost nearly 10 pounds. Though weight gain is a side effect for some, I feel my weight loss is due to my ability to be more physically active for longer periods of time..... I need to split my dosage because I am med sensitive and My Doc and I came up with this plan together. So far so good though. Everyone is different so you really need to keep in good touch with your Docs about how you are doing...... Don't give up too soon, some times your body needs time to adjust and sometimes you need to adjust dosage/timing. Best wishes and keep trying, don't ever give up!

wow, i have had the same effects of willy and take it away.

i started lyrica on the 19th @ bedtime.i have been taking 25 mg morning, late day and bedtime.i have noticed a huge difference!!! i was having pain in my shoulers and neck for a 3 weeks, normally it comes and goes and now i have no pain!!!!! yeah!!! i have more energy and i have no appetite, which having no appetite is wonderful i had gained about 70lbs, 40 in 2004( i did weigh 156) and 30 from 2005 to current. so i NEED to loose weight. when i first had a major flare with horrible pain in 2004 they put me on decadron, a high potent steriod, because at the time the pc didnt know it was fibromyalgia. so i gained 40 lbs, then i'be been on elavil since 2005 and have gained 30 lbs.

anyhow i am estatic with the results i have had with the lyrica , i've not had any bad side effects except the first morning i felt dizzy. other than that lyrica has been wonderful and i've only been on it since wednedsay and today is saturday.

i hope an pray i continue to feel this good. i wish for others it works as well

just found out my husband is going to iraq for a year so i was bawling and very upset and stressed on friday and today and i have not had one pain. normally myself being that upset would send me into a flare, but it hasnt yet so knock on wood. i am a hyper person, so to speak. i think the lyrica has a little of a calming effect as well. you wouldve thought that with me finding out he has to go to iraq, it would've sent me into a panic attack, but it hasnt......YET!

i was so scared to gain weight that i didnt want to even try lyrica but so far i'm glad i did.

i think its strange how the same medicine can work so differently for everyboday. i wish everyone has the same experience with lyrica that i've had so far.

Been on the Lyrica a week now and the difference continues to amaze me. Normally if a storm is coming I am at my worst but with Lyrica the storm came and went with no added pains! In one week I have started to feel like my normal self which I had not felt in over a year! I am worried about the weight gain so I dropped the Elavil about 3 days ago and notice no ill effects from doing so. I figure one less drug may help keep the poundage at bay! The only negative I notice thus far is that I feel so much better and have so much energy that I find it hard to settle down to sleep.....I am wide awake! I still have some pain in my back and hips but otherwise I feel fine......no morning fatigue! Why do you think this works for some and not others?

hmmmmmmm. i have no idea why it works for some and not others, it seems to be working for me, i just wish it worked for everyone else too. i am on elavil @ bedtime( for fibro) and also take elmiron(for interstitial cystitis),enablex(for over active bladder) and 800 mg ibprofen for fibro. all of these help me sleep so i dont have much of a problem getting to sleep or staying asleep. thats just all my bedtime meds. now if i cant sleep i can take ativan too. i have no morning fatigue as well.

The amitriptyline does help me sleep but I think it also helped me gain 12 pounds...that's why I just dropped it. I also take Prozac 20mg starting about a month ago.......within a week it made a big difference in my being able to sleep...not perfection but not bad either. I do believe there is something to this hormonal imbalance theory the guy in Texas is treating. Has anyone heard of the Fibromyalgia and Chronic Fatigue Centers? I believe they are sort of a chain........there is one near me in Philly.....I have not gone there but it seems they do look at alternative types of treatment like natural hormonal treatment. I was just about to make an appt when this Lyrica started working. Now however I am closely watching my weight....after one week it is okay but I am watching it like a hawk! It does seem that if the Lyrica is going to work for you you will know within about a week at the most........it was so dramatic that there was no doubt that it had an effect. Becca

Lots of tricyclics and SSRI's cause weight gain which isn't a problem if you take control of that. amitryptiline is the one that I was given 15 years ago before there were any other treatments!!! I couldn't remember the name and that really BUGS ME!!! I try to blame everything on FMS, but think this is really old age, LOL.....the theory was deep muscle relaxation would promote better sleep, less pull on tendons and bones. It did work FINE!!!!!! My problem??? I slept for 3 days which was NOT cool with small kids and animals in the house. I had no choice but to go with a drug free route, exercise, aromatherapy, hydrotherapy and chammomile tea. I also grabbed the occasional Xanax script but really, just lived in total pain and misery and sleeplessness and the most unbelievable gastric problems for 15 years. Lyrica has changed my life in a few short weeks.

There are so many things for anxiety...........deep breathing, meditation, praying or just even talking. Stretch and breathe, stretch and breathe. PM me if you need help, please, PM me or anyone you feel comfortable talking to........PM 12 of us, there is no one who won't try to help!

Honey, Yes it will take a little time, and according to how intense your pain is, is a factor too. But I take 200mgs twice a day and I feel great, and it seems that it feels like it gets stronger as it stays in my system

hours after I take it it seems more intense and I just keep noticing how more comfortable my body is..don't give up on it, ok? (( Gentle Hugz ))

I have been taking Lyrica 75mg since mid-May and I do believe that it has lessened my pain BUT ....

I have called PCP to decide what we need to change ...I feel that something isn t working as it should. While I have less pain (hardly any on a regular basis), I cannot think, I have terrible brain fog, I mix my words up when talking and spell words incorrectly (and I never used to do that). I don t know what in the world is going on but I want it ""fixed""...

I hate to blame the Lyrica but that is the only change in medications I have had in many months ...what else can it be ?
