Does anyone experience tingling muscles almost like a pins and needles feeling? I notice that when my muscles get stiff, I get this tingling sensations in the muscles around that area. For example right now my shins and ankels are stiff and achey and it is actually causes a tingling sensation my from knees to my feet. Is this a part of fibro? Also, when I get stiffness in my neck and jaw I also get this tingling sensation. It is really scary and I am not sure if it is a part of fibro.

I would say yes, I get the same tingling feelings in my legs and when I try and flex my toes, my legs really hurt. Sometimes it feels like someone whacked a cane across the back of my calf muscles. I can relate! TMJ is often asociated with Fibro...I also get tingling in my left check and the left side of my mouth feels weird alot. My doctor said he is 100% certain that all of the weird feelings I get are from fibro. Recently I have also felt like something is wet on the side of my neck. I agree that it is super scary. Just make your doctor aware and see if he agrees that the cause is fibro. I am sure he or she will.

I get the tingling in my arms, legs, toes and fingertips. I think it's part of fibro. I have had it since college and not a single doctor seems concerned with it.

Do your muscles get super stiff to go along with the tingling? Sometimes it is hard to walk. My muscles aren't sore, but more tight and tingly.

I get the tingling all the time qnd I do have stiffness but not necessarily together. The tingling drives me crazy and I am actually going to my neurologist to discuss this with him at the request of my rheumy. I'm not going for a few weeks but I will post what he has to say about it.

My muscles get stiff to the point where I cant even jog without my ankles locking up.They feel so stiff sometimes that massaging them to loosen the muscles actually hurts because they are so tight. It definitely affects the way that I walk. I also get a burning in my thigh and hip. I have found that some heat applied and some light stretching really helps reduce the stiffness and tingling. I HIGHLY recommend biofreeze or (even better) if you have a health food store close by try to find white flower oil. This stuff is AMAZING but use only a very small dose. It is able to penetrate deep into the muscle and is most helpful if applied after a warm shower. If you do try it, remember only use a very small amt and wash your hands after. It will burn otherwise. I am here if you ever just want to vent. I know how you feel.

I use heat all of the time. I cannot live without my heating pad. I also use biofreeze daily (i probably keep the company in buisness with how much i buy) The stiffness definitely makes it hard to walk. The stiffness in my neck sometimes makes my head feel as though it weighs 1000 pounds! I try to stretch as much as i can and use the heat and biofreeze when necessary.

If you can, try the white flower oil. It is seriously the best stuff ever! It will loosen up the stiffest knots in your neck, back etc.

I'm an Advocate

The only time I get stiff ankles is first thing in the morning before I get up or when I ve sat in a chair for awhile and not walked.

My Rhuemy said to ""rotate each foot both directions 10X each before getting out of bed in the morning"" and it really does help me.

As for the ""tingling"", I get what I describe as a fly crawling on my ankles frequently . It doesn t actually hurt but it feels creepy.

You might check out the TMJ (jaw disorder) Forum here. What you describe with your face, jaw and part of your neck could be TMJ. I do believe that TMJ is Fibro related. I have it but not to the point (yet) that it has become painful as some here.
