MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

i can relae to all of this but i have chronic bronchitis that always turns into pneumonia and pleurosy. this makes breathing a little tough sometimes. i also have acid reflux and gurd so swallowing can be tough. i don't leep much anymore so it doesn't wake me up anymore. i guess one of these days when i do sleep i'll have to see if it disturbs my sleep.

good luck all.

I have COPD,sleep apnea and terrible laryngeal spasms(it is like choking on a golf ball when there is none there I can't breath at all or speak for1-3 mins my throat slams shut) these seem to get worse as pain level goes up and are not panic attacks but I do start to panic when I can't breath at all. for some people they get them from acid reflux but I think mine are from a bad nerve in neck

Plus there are tight and painful muscles on my chest wall that make it hard to breath

So all in all yep, I guess breathing is a problem for me

I have a lot of shortness of breath, esp going up steps. I have a damaged heart valve so my blood doesnt pump enough oxygen for me to get my breath, plus I have pulmonary nodules due to histoplasmosis. On top of that, I have a lot of scar tissue around my lungs when I had radiation in the 70s for my cancer. It sucks.

Absolutely relate to that. I have COPD and bronchiectasis and yes of course we would panic if we cant breathe. I hate the doctors that say oh its anxiety but they should try going without air and see if they panic hey.

I have so mnay other health issues so seems so unfair

Try and stay positive it sure helps

Hugs Lee

I have noticed that in the past few months, I make a rattling/wheezing/really odd noise that isn't like my asthma sounds like. If I turn onto my right side, it gets really hard to breathe. I have had a sleep study in the past month and was told I have mild sleep apnea and may need more sinus and nasal surgery in the possibly near future but if possible, need to try to lose weight (am going to check into a lap band procedure), and we'll see if that helps first. It seems like each day I notice something different with either my breathing or other aspects of fibromyalgia. I have a list of things that am trying to get checked out and in best condition to improve as many other aspects of my health in hopes it might help with the fibro. It's not been easy, but I keep praying it will help. I'm trying to get an appointment with someone who can help me figure out if these noises and the breathing problems are from the weight gain or what. I quit smoking almost a year ago and it seems my breathing hasn't gotten any better, so either I have residual issues from smoking or the weight gain or who knows what.

Best of luck to you all and I will try to regain and retain a positive attitude

Midnyte, I have those rattling/wheezing noises too but I still smoke. I have been diagnosed with chronic bronchitis so I assume that's what the noises are.

Do you go to a breathing specialist (not sure of the name of those doctors ) or did your family doctor diagnose you? I have had bouts of bronchitis and/or pneumonia every year since I was 4 years old. I had double pneumonia and almost died. I was really dumb to have started smoking knowing my family was told then I would have weak lungs for the rest of my life but I figured they didn't really know that since medical procedures would so out of date then. I've not always made the best decision and I had started smoking around 13 Young and ignorant. Anyways, it just seems odd that these sounds have gotten worse after I quit smoking unless it is due to the additional weight gain or my asthma is taking a new turn perhaps. I guess I really do need to put getting this put on my list of things to get checked out.

Hi again. There are many issues that go with this. Firstly the fibromyalgia can make sure chest muscles weak so exercise is important to keep muscles strong for times when you get sick. The weight thing I am still trying to decide, I was thinner and it made no dfifference to the breathing with me. have since put weight back on.I had sleep studies done too and was told I had mild apnoea and now sleep with 2 pillows which i find helps a little. havent smoked for 18 years so that isnt the problem in that area. My lung specialist also said stress plays a part and so too having had bouts of bronchitis all my life. I have a narrow airway from all the coughing over the years so that is scar tissue. Also sinus issues but now I am using a nasal wash and also put vaseline(just a little) in my nostrils before going to bed. Also 2 paracetamol before bed. Hope this helps you. Cheers Lee
