Ok, so I had to get a root canal last week and I was in quite a bit of jaw pain for about three days after. I can finally chew again, but I have a great deal of pain in my jaw especially above my eyes near my temples. It is sore and stiff. Does anyone else get this pain? It is drving me crazy today. What can I do for it? Thanks!

Sweetie, I think it might still be from the root canal. We've got fibro, don't forget, so it takes us longer to recover from stuff like that.

Adewyn is right, try icing it, or heating it, whichever feels better, and whatever you take otc. Give it another few days. If it doesn't feel any better then, I'd call the dentist.

Good luck!

This might me out of subject, but I've had my lower jaw like paralyzed for more than 4 weeks. It was more or less touch intensive. It felt like you had a local anaestesia for a tooth problem. Some days it grew up to my eye, the entire cheek was numb.

I never had that ever before, and I thought that it is related to the Fibro, but I cannot be sure.

How is eased off ? Well, I've started Tai Chi just recently, and well, since it's gone. It could be a back problem of bad posture.

You could very still be pain from the root canal. You've had an infection in your tooth, and they've removed the nerve, blood supply and vital tissues from the tooth to save it. Then they disinfected the inside of the tooth and filled up the area to keep infection from building up again. Think of it as tooth surgery. Even a regular filling causes me pain for a few weeks, so give yourself time to recover. Finish any antibiotics they gave you, and if they didn't offer pain meds, ask for some!

(I've seen lotsa root canals! Imma dental asst Wink )

I had two wisdom teeth out a couple years ago and my jaw was swollen for weeks. They had to break up the tooth and they were ripping my jaw all over trying to get the one out. I couldn't eat forever. I do also have TMJ and have had chronic headaches since I was 15. I would ask for more pain meds and stick to an instant breakfast/oatmeal diet(my diet I lived on when I had braces back when I was in my early 20's).
