Please say a prayer for me -- My final SSD Hearing is this Friday. The judge requested a medical expert this time and I'm a nervous. I won't go through this again if I'm denied.

Thank you,

Traci

Thanks everyone!

Lisa - No, I didn't hire a lawyer and have represented myself through the entire process. I'm tired!

If anyone has any experience dealing with medical experts during a hearing, I'm very interersted in what happens and the questions asked.

Again, thank you all for your kind words and encouragement.

I'm an Advocate

I had to have a hearing before I was finally approved a couple of years ago, I did have a lawyer for the hearing only so I know what you mean about it being tiring. They had a guy there that listens to all the testimony and will tell the judge if there is any job in the national economy you would be able to do. The judge asks questions like can you lift a gallon of milk, can you lift 5 lb dumbbells how long can you sit, how long can you stand and so on. An important thing about that is sometimes the hearing can go for awhile so if you say I can only sit for such and such period of time and then you sit in front of him longer he will take note of it so ask for a break in the middle if you need one, they never have a problem with that and it will prove your case better. I was an Administrative Coordinator before I became disabled and the work guy said although he feels I couldnt do that I could maybe handle light clerical duties and then the judge read a letter from one of my doctors and after the judge read it he asked the work guy if he still felt the same he then stated there are no jobs in the national economy he felt I could do. You want to be able to get your points across not only to the judge but to that person because their answer could influence the judges decision. I truly wish you the best of luck. Getting disability was the best thing that ever happened to me. We would have lost everything without it.

I'm not currently active due to many personal and medical issues. I will not be participating in MDJ for awhile, my thoughts and prayers are with everyone. I hope everyone is well and I appreciate all of the thoughts, kind words and messages. I have tried to respond as much as possible and apologize if I have not gotten back to everyone. Love & Hugs, Stacey

MissStacey, you are saying that you can not even lift a gallon of milk to get disability? What has this world come to? I can lift a gallon of milk, but make my husband get a bag of ice. But if were to work in a grocery or convenience store, which has been in my line of work all my life, I would absolutely die from all the stocking, and merchandising, ouch. You tend not to just lift a gallon of milk at work on a daily basis. Work has so many other physical aspects to it, that is why they call it work....

I just do not understand our system some times. I have not applied for disability, truthfully I am scared for the fight. I give you guys that. It is so much tougher to fight for your right, than it is to lift a gallon of milk, I just do not understand the reasoning..
