Okay so i work at TJMaxx and i started about a week ago. At first it was a lot of fun, i was putting things away and processing clothes, and my pain was less. But the other day they put me in the fitting room for the first time and it was HORRIBLE!!! People are coming and going and you have to check their number tags, and then you have to reprocess the clothes and put them on the right rack, in the right order,(they call it "flow") So it goes sleeveless, t shirt, 3/4 sleeve, sweaters, etc. Then if you are able to catch your breath you have to process purses and handbags, and that is a WHOLE new system of frustration. Its a tight space with lots of people and the worst part is i couldn't do it right, no matter how hard i tried to focus and get it right, they kept telling me it was wrong. I was so stressed, i was hot and sore, and it was no fun. And my boss told me at the end of the day that i was being rude about it. I didn't even realize i was saying "i know" to them and sounding like a smart alic. I was kicking myself all day, i was so frustrated with myself, i thought i could do this, and i thought i could be strong this time. But now i am sitting at home in my pjs, not working cuz i had to call in sick, cuz i only got 2 hours of sleep last night due to extreme abdominal pains. I hate it, i cant keep a job more than 3 months and i am only one week into it. Its so hard, i cant explain my situation, so i just try to act like everyone else. But its so hard, and if i lose this job, i am screwed. Pardon my language, its just i get so mad at myself, i know i can do it, i do, its just so incredibly difficult. I wish people could understand my situation without looking down on me for complaining and making excuses...

oh gosh I am so sorry. i know how you must feel. In your pic you look fairly young, may i ask your age? Maybe you could get a job at a desk? Like around here, they have Federated dept stores credit dept and that is all they do is take and process apps all day....

Legarto, If this job is so detail-oriented I can see it would be stressful! It has nothing to do with how smart you are - you may find something else where your current "weaknesses" show up as strengths instead, and where taking your time and analyzing may be valued instead of mindless rushing around! You may want to check this out to keep your options open: CBS has a "Jobs" special Monday night with Katie Couric (spelling?)about which jobs are the ones that can never get enough employees. I do not remember the exact name of it. Maybe knowing about other jobs will reduce the stress! Best of luck!

Ohhhh...I'm soo sorry you're feeling so crappy! (sorry)

I'm wondering if it would be easier for you to go ahead and tell them about your illness instead of trying to hide it as well. I mean, hiding it is automatically going to create more pain and anxiety and frustration to yourself....

Just a thought!

I hope you feel better hun! We're here for ya!

Thx, mamanordy, i am 17 and the pic is not of me, but of Buffy aka Sarah Michelle Gellar. I have been trying to get a job ever since i was fired/laid off of my seasonal job. Its hard to find a suitable job here, i mean its CDA, idaho. We have fast food which after the two pizza jobs i had last summer i swore i would never do food period. Then i got a job at Sears Portrait Studio, where i had alot of fun and learned alot of stuff, then Christmas hit, and i couldn't handle the stress of the fast pace environment. In all of these jobs i told them my situation, i could tell that they didnt really understand. My co-workers looked down on me for to many breaks and making excuses, so this time i am trying to just push it aside. I dont want my co-workers disliking me for not working as much as they are. Its just so hard, and i dont know what to do.

That makes total sense! I see what you mean and I think it's very, VERY brave and strong of you to 'go for it' and try to push it aside! Try not to make it TOO hard on yourself though...ok?

It's hard to say. All jobs have different kinds of stresses. I give you lots of credit for putting yourself out there and trying to work.
