"I have Crohn's Disease along with Fibromyalgia." (katiek)

MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

Hi all! i have filed for ss too and was denied.just filed for my 1st appeal.i have already talked to a lawyer who will take my case if it is denied again. i still get ltd from where i worked, they make me apply for ss. i just wanted to throw in some facts they gave me...62% are denied initially, 16% of these are approved at reconsideration, 59% that were previously denied are approved at hearing level. my son has done 1st appeal, his dr said he would write a very strong case for him in his records, am waiting to see if it works.

I was denied at my hearing. We are sending in my appeal this week. As soon as it is in, we are to let the Maryland Congressman know and he is supposed to help us. I have heard both good and bad about this. I am hoping he can do something. HE is hopeful that is necessary we can get a new judge. Mine was not nice at all. And the paperwork is a mess. I am penalized for my medical background. I am going to the orthopod and the pain doctor today. My primary and my psychiatrist and psychologist have already written that I cannot work. I don't know what will happen. I am too sick to work and not sick enough to be recognized by SS for disability. What do I do? I hurt every day. Today I have to go down steps sidesways because I can't do them straight. Oh, well everybody, do the best you can with each application. You almost have to think into the future. My hearing was based upon my application which was 18 months old and so much had changed. I was not prepated for my hearing.

LOL and many blessings for a good day,

ccc

Hi everyone, I got some great news today. I failed my medical at the end of January so I appealed. I got a letter today and the decision has been overturned in my favor Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!! I was on a reduced rate while my appeal was being looked at, so I should get the extra money back dated from when I put my appeal in; just in time for my birthday!!

It's not raining in Ohio, that's just me crying.

I just got my second denial letter from SSD. What made me mad was the way they handled my claim to begin with. When I got the letter today, the envelope was scotch taped shut. In it was page one of a letter and a book about the right to question the decision. The letter looked like it wasn't finished. It was only 3/4 of a page long and the last sentence of the letter only showed the top parts of the letters. There was no salutation page nor signature. When I read the denial, it made me truly upset to the point of tears. It never addressed the fibromyalgia nor the osteoarthrits which were new conditions and weren't included in with the first claim I sent to them in 2006. This letter said that my diabetes was well controlled on medication, I'm on 175 units of Lantus a day and my A1C still runs high between 9 and 12, that is NOT well controlled diabetes. They also said my recent hearing exam was grossly normal and I didn't need a hearing aid. This is what alerted me to the fact that something was definitely wrong. My last hearing test was in 1994 in Reston, Virginia. I have lived in Defiance, Oh for the past 8 years and have never had a hearing exam here in OH. I just cried my eyes out when I got this cause I was hurting so bad last night and today. My feet are swollen and I can hardly stand, sit or lay. In addition it said that my Coronary artery disease is stable. It never mentioned the fact that I have mitral valve regurgitation due to the fact that I ruptured a cord in the valve when I had my heart attack. I can't walk 90 feet without getting out of breath.

I have an appointment with SSA tomorrow at 9:30AM to discuss this case and see why the discrepancies are there. She said it's quite possible that they mixed up my records with someone elses. Anyhow, the next appeal will start on Monday. This is terrible cause I can't write for long periods of time due to the arthritis in my hands.

Now you would think that of: Coronary Artery Disease with Mitral Valve Regurgitation, Hypertension, Uncontrolled Diabetes, Degenerative disc disease in my neck, Degenerative joint disease in hands, feet, hips, back etc, Osteoarthritis in feet and hands, Right ulnar nerve damage,Depression, History of TIA (mini stroke), Meniere's disease, potassium deficiency, calcium deficiency, Vitamin D deficiency, traumatic scoliosis and fibromyalgia that one of them would qualify me for SSD.

I really ripped a new one for the gal in Columbus, OH that did the handling of the claim. She had it screwed up all along by sending it to Chicago to be reviewed before she got all the Doctors records and rays from my Rheumatologist.

All she could tell me was that I should go to the office here in Defiance and file an appeal.

There must be someone we could write to so that we can complain against the shoddy treatment we are receiving from people we've never met. I was a claims examiner for health insurance for over 32 years. If I ever treated one of my clients the way we have been treated, I would have been fired.

Frustrated in Ohio I am, Jan

Call you congressman or at least E-mail them. Write an editorial for the newspaper. Call the newpaper and ask them if they would be interested in doing a story on you and your case.

If possible I would take someone to everyone of your meetings. That way you have a witness to the way you have been treated also I know I forget things once they are said. My congressmans office was right next to SS office so all I had to do was walk across the hall. Something has got to be done. Do you have to wait the lengthy time again? How do they think we survive? It makes me crazy. I wish we could stage a walk on Washington, only we couldn't do it.

I don't know what else to tell you. This is what I have done so far. I am hoping something works.

Hi Jan, I found that going through the medical assessment and listing what was written in your assessment and then what was actually said might help, thats what I did. I sent it off to the medical people who employ the doctors that do these assessments as a complaint and I think it helped (get someone to type it for you if you can't do it yourself). We all know how stressful it can be; you don't feel you can keep going, but you DO have the strength to keep fighting, and on days when you want to give up, you have us for extra strength, hang in there. Thanks Jenny, you just gave me an idea. I have all my medical records from all of my Doctors here at my house. I got an attorney to obtain them for me so I could have them too. I'm going to sit down and take a good look at what they say. Today is a perfect day as it is raining and I will have all the privacy that I want as my husband is going into work at noon and won't be back untill midnight. Gotta go cause my fingers on my left hand just fell asleep.

Love hugs and kisses to all my fibro friends.

Jan
