MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

I know this has been covered but, I want to warn anyone out there whose DR has diagnosed carpoltunnel and surgery. I was diagnosed with carpoltunnel because my hands were always going numb. I was told I needed the surgery on both wrists and that it would take care of it. At the time I played the drumms with a band. I was convinced it would work and allow me to keep playing so I went for it. Not only did it NOT solve the problem of numb hands but I lost a lot of strength in my two middle fingers. This was 7 years ago and has never improved. I no longer play the drums and am sorry I had the surgerys. Just make sure you really have carpoltunnel and need the surgery befor going through the pain.

Sorry to hear that 10Myne. My BF plays drums and he goes stir crazy if he doesn't get to play for a while. It is like therapy. I also enjoy listening to him.

I have come to the realization that those of us with chronic conditions/mysterious diseases should not have surgery. The last 2 that I have had have caused more problems then I had before the surgery. The latest if surgery on my left hand. I now have excrutiating pain that I never had before the surgery. My surgery was for torn TCFF and schafalunate joint ligament.

Hey 10Myne.

Thanks for your input. A doctor I've seen who specializes in Fibro in my town pretty much confirms what you've just said. Obviously everyone has different variations of FM and may also have additional conditions to boot.

But according to this doctor, surgeries for people who suffer from Fibromyalgia can indeed aggravate and even worsen an individuals overall pain due to the Myofascial tissue as well as the muscle tissue that is effected. In my case I have a degenerative back disorder where my spinal discs are actually herniated and continue to become worn down. When I inquired about surgery, he was immediately against it and stated that the pain could quadruple or even worse.

So thanks for the advice. Again, not everyone is the same, so your doctor and another doctor's (preferably a Neurosurgeon or a specialist for your condition) for a second opinion is the best option to go with.
