So, my doctor, who also happens to be my daughter's doctor and in the office where my daughter works, tells my daughter that she is going to send her for Rheumatoid factor blood tests and some others. The doctor said that if they all come out negative, she is going to diagnose my daughter with Fibro. When my daughter asked about it, the doctor stated that she believed it to be a legitimate disease. Here is why I'm mad. This is the same doctor who first suggested I might have Fibro then on a subsequent visit to her office, when I asked her about it, told me that Fibro was mainly a disease of the mind and only referred me to a Rheumatologist because I repeatedly asked her to. Now why would she be willing to diagnose my daughter with Fibro and not me? I have found a good deal of this kind of treatment from doctors since I got on Medicaid. It is as if having Medicaid makes me less of a person, less important in their eyes. I have refused most pain meds as I don't want the addiction, side effects and cannot focus on my younger children when I am taking them so I'm not a drug seeker like many patients are. I simply want a diagnosis so that I might move on with my life and treatment. As for what you are all probably thinking...change doctors. It would be more difficult and take more time for me to start over with a new doctor than it is to stay where I am and I have found that when my daughter leaves messages for the doctor, I get a better response. ~shrugs |
