MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

I was just wondering if anyone who has fibro got prenant after you were diagnosed. My husband and I are thinking of trying for Baby #2 this summer and I was wondering how your body reacted during pregnancy and after you had the baby. I know I will have to stop taking all meds which will probably make me not be able to sleep the entire pregnancy. Any advice would help. Thanks!

Yes, I did it twice. Somehow I was able to find the strength to go off my meds in order to get pregnant. I felt pretty good during the pregnancies and did pretty well with labor (although had 2 c-sections). A little while after having my baby, I had to go back on meds. It was 4 months after the first one and about 9 months the second time. Since the second child was born, I have been on meds since & lately have been increasing them.

For me, the important thing was to take the best care of myself as was possible at the time...right amt of sleep, exercise, nutrition, etc. The dr kept a close eye on me. Both babies were healthy though and I would not have done anything different! They are two of the loves of my life!!

I had a c-section with my first child and will plan to have one with the 2nd. How did you feel during pregnancy after you went off the meds? I heard that some women feel better during pregnancy. After you had your baby did you feel really bad and were you in a lot of pain? I know with the lack of sleep it could cause flare ups for us.

Aside from the morning sickness, I felt great during the pregnancy! So good, that I have told my hubby that I should be pregnant ALL of the time! LOL

After the birth (2nd c-section) I think I was distracted from the pain for a while cuz I spent another week in the hospital from my own personal health issue...right adrenal gland hemmorraged (sp?). So, i was on narcotics for a week. After I was able to come home, I had a lot of help for the first week or so...family came to help, since I had a 3 y/o, a newborn, and had just been in the hospital again. The baby was colicky and had lactose intolerance, so it was a bit of a trying time. The lack of sleep was hard, but I just plugged away. I took lots of Tylenol and drank lots of Diet Pepsi to keep me going. I also had a high stress job at the time so I just kept pushing myself. I had no time to think about my own pain really. I just did what I had to do. It was a while later (like 6 months) that I realized I was struggling with the pain. I think my senses had started to return by that point. LOL So, I went back to the dr and started back on my meds. I think the pain finally came to the front of my brain enough that I realized I needed my dr's help. I have never looked back since. There have been times that I think - hmmmm what would it be like if I were pregnant again? Then reality hits and I tell myself to be thankful for what I have, which I am. At this point, if I did have any more kids, it would be automatic c-section. That's enough to deter me along with the fact that my girls are now getting more involved in school & activities.

Just a thought that came to me while reading some of the responses to this post. For those of you who felt better while pregnant please have your hormone levels checked. I have become a true believer that hormone issues can cause some if not all of your pain. Since being treated for my hormone and allergy issues I've been 1 month painfree. For most women they feel there best while pregnant because their hormone levels are at best. For those of you who are wanting to get pregnant I wish you all the luck!! Children are such a wonderful gift.
