MDJunction to me

"MDJunction to me is a life saver... when i first was diagnosed with Scheuermann's Disease i wrote a message to a page i found on google, hoping that they could help me.... you'd never know it but that weird feeling (you know that one where it feels like someone actually cares) came over me when i opened my email next day to find that someone on the other side of the world (at the American Medical Library)had read my message while i was sleeping, and there low and behold was the address to MDJunction.... well it is everything to me, i live it breathe it and love it!!!!! I have found many people who are struggling with similar issues banding together to help each other. It is the best place in the world, and i couldn't think of another place to go to meet so many lovely people....

thanks MDJunction

I applied online and pre-qualified for this study. I received a call from a medical lab about 45 minutes drive from my house. I was interviewed about what meds I currently take, and which ones were not allowed during the study. It turns out that at least two of my current meds would have had to be discontinued if I had signed up to participate in the studies. I would have been compensated for my gas and time, but the hassle would have been too great in the long run I decided. One of the three studies I could have participated in involved a drug being investigated for pain relief. You are only allowed Tylenol for pain in this study, and 1 out of 3 people will receive placebo and no pain medication. NO WAY would I be able to do that one! They would not allow any muscle relaxant either. Another study involved a patch which contains a medication used to treat Parkinson's disease that is being considered for use in fibro. The third study (these were all through the myfibrostudy.com website)was to see if a med that has already proven effective for pain relief with fibro (and already on the market in Australia and I believe, Europe, called Milnicipran) causes high blood pressure. Everyone in that study receives the drug as they are just testing to see if high blood pressure is a significant serious side effect for a lot of people. I might have been willing to to that one, but again, there were two meds I would have to discontinue in order to participate, and the study recruiter for the lab said that some of the appointments at the clinic would involve being hooked up to a blood pressure monitor for five hours straight!!! The pay for participating in the studies and sticking out the whole 12-18 weeks (depending on the study) is $500. It sounded like easy money at first, till I thought of having to go without pain meds, having to discontinue meds I need for other health problems, or having to spend all day hooked up to monitors. I decided not to pursue this, but I thought you all might be interested in what new meds are being investigated in these studies and how the studies are run. I'm glad that there are people who are willing and able to do this, but it's not for me!

I didn't qualify either and am kind of confused on how you do qualify? I ran it twice to make sure. I've been diagnosed, I live in PA, my height is ok and I not on meds for thyroid or for sleep apnea. Height/weight are within normal range.

hmmmmmmmmmmm I'm a reject! lol!
