Fibromyalgia Support Group

Hi everyone. I know I haven't posted in a very long time; however, I just wanted to let you all know how my doctor appt. went yesterday.

Firstly, I want to thank everyone SOOOOO much for their well wishes and prayers. It's been a really long haul these past months and I really appreciate them.

I had a muscle biopsy done in February and it showed certain muscle fibers that are indicative of muscular dystrophy. I also have been showing signs of abnormal blood work showing elevated CK levels, which is muscle damage indicators. Because of this, I went to the MDA clinic in the medical center in Houston yesterday.

I will try to make this brief, but bear with me.

Even though the biopsy results showed dystrophy and abnormalities, the doctor that did the biopsy did not do the in-depth testing that really needed to be done to show what type of dystrophy or myopathy this is~~not his speciality. My MDA doctor will look at my actual biopsy slides and will also use leftover muscle from the biopsy, to do this in-depth testing. I was assured that this will be done right away.

I have also been experiencing heart problems for about 5 months now and low and behold while I was there, this 'problem' started up. I got up to change my clothes and put on a gown for the exam and just that little bit of exertion raised my heart rate to about 117 and my heart started skipping. This happens when I exert myself in any way. My doctor came in the room; I didn't say anything and the first part of the exam was her listening to my heart. She stopped after about 15 seconds and told me that I needed to see a cardiologist as soon as possible because of what my heart was doing. My appt for that is Monday morning at 8:00 a.m. I AM ASKING ONCE AGAIN FOR MUCH PRAYER FOR THIS APPOINTMENT.

As far as the muscle disease ~ she said that there was definitely muscle disease / dystrophy and now with my heart problems, that there are about four different types that can cause electrical heart problems. I will have to wait until further testing, that she will be doing, on the muscle from the biopsy.

I have also went from 170 to 127. Hey, not such a bad thing. but it is kinda creepy when you really aren't trying to lose weight. She looked at my arm and leg muscles and they are wasting; especially in my calfs and thighs.

Long story short: She is concerned a lot with my heart right now; more testing on biopsy which should show more of what type of disease process this is. So all in all, it was a decent appt.

I CAN'T THANK YOU ALL ENOUGH for your prayers!!! You don't know how much it means to me knowing that you guys are right there with me. I can just close my eyes and see all of you right there with me and thank God for that everyday. If I could be so bold as to ask for more prayer for my appt. on Monday morning and also for the additional testing on my muscle biopsy.

I also thank God for allowing me to get in sooner. The original appt. was set for the 18th and they put me in sooner. So I know that had to be a 'God thang'.

Of course you have my prayers you always have and you always will. I'm happy this doctor seems to be on top of it. We all know how frustrating it is to wait. Although I don't know just how you feel I know that you must be relieved to finally start moving on this again.

Kay, Sweetie you don't have to ask for us to pray for you. You have never left our hearts or our prayers. God will get you through this and bring you back to us. Just know that we love and miss you and can't wait for you to come back.

You are part of our family and we need you to come back. Everything will be fine. God works in myserious ways and you never know what he can or will be but, whatever it is, it will good. Just trust in God to get you throguh this and he will.

OOh, Kay, Sweetie ~~~~ What you have been thru !!?!?!? You have always been in my prayers but will step them up a notch or two now. I can t even begin to imagine what is to come.

I am so glad to hear that you have good doctors working with you and finally solving the problems. The not knowing what a problem is (to me) is a lot worse than knowing what you have to fight .
