MDJunction to me

"When I first came to MDJ, I was in a very dark place, and feeling quite alone, I don't know how I found this site, but I have been very grateful ever since, all of you have offered insight to the illness of Bipolar and the other things going on with me, being here has allowed me to find friends, and to feel safe in discussing things that I would never have shared before.

I believe it has also offered me the chance to reach out and help others. A simple Thank you, is all that I have to offer, to this site and to the wonderful people here.

Hey everyone:

I was curious to see if any of you can relate to something I read in a book about Fibro. In the book they mentioned that alot of sufferers are those that are considered "Type A" personalities. In other words, perfectionists. I know for me that in my old self, I was considered someone who was always seeking perfection so I could totally relate with that statement. What about you?

Ali

You nailed it. Everything I have ever read says the same thing about perfectionists. I have tried time & time again to not be such a perfectionist, but it's a battle. I guess I am a perfectionist by nature. LOL

I do not know, but let's say you are correct. If so, then what are the implications?

I am such a perfectionist! It even annoys me at times how much I have to have everything just right... I will find the tinniest thing that nobody else notices about something and it drives me nuts if I cant fix it!

I'm not sure what the implications are. The perfectionist in me says that I have to find the "perfect cure" for me. It's like I have a hard time being "ok" with where I am at in the walk of fibro because I am always looking for something better. While this doesn't sound bad cuz who doesn't want the best care possible, it is its own battle because it's hard for me to be at ease. Did I just say that? Not me...I am always at ease ~ NOT. That's just who I am, I guess. The perfectionist looking for a better way.

Yup. From one type A to another; I think that info. is exactly right. Of course, I never used to think of myself as a perfectionist because I let my house get messy and my classroom gets piled with stacks. But, when it comes to something that is important to me, I practically hurt myself getting it right. Have you noticed how many of my posts say "edited?" That's because I look back and think, "I could have said that better."

Along the same lines, I've read that most people with fibro. are also people pleasers. We're the ones always wanting to help everyone else, even at our own expense. Does that sound familiar to anyone? Maybe that's why we're such good support for each other. Who cares that what I need right now is a hot bath and bed... so and so needs to hear something positive from me.

Sooooo completely agree and understand, when a friend is in need it takes everything because nothing else will do!! I kinda see that in most people on this support group! We're all such big givers!!

I am a type A too. and a major people pleaser. If I see someone in need or am asked to do something I just cant say no, no matter how much I know its going to make me sick. I will give up my wellbeing to make sure everybody around me is happy and well.
a day without laughter is a day wasted.

I am not a Type A and never have been. But I am a people pleaser.
