I have been reading Suzanne Somer's book 'Ageless'.

It is extremely interesting. It is all about our bodies and the 'standard of care' in the medical field. How doctor's just treat symptoms and how the pharmaceutical companies are your real doctors as the call the shots.

She interviews 15 doctors, cutting edge doctors, who really care about the way we feel and the answers are so simple.

How the standard blood tests they give us are not accurate for the thyroid reading 80% OF THE TIME!!! or the rest of the tests.

These doctors are treating women and men with biodentical hormones, after LISTENING to their patients. It is very enlightening and reading these opinions makes me believe that Fibro is a manifestation of hormone imbalance. This is my opinion. It is said, if one is off they are all off. When we deplete our hormones...we're dead.

There is a member here who visited one of these cutting edge drs and was hormonely off and was treated and now feels great. The biodentical hormones are not from the drug co's, they are natural from plants, etc that are IDENTICAL to our own. We start losing them in our 20's and just get worse.

Too much info to put here, but it is definitely worth a look at. Dr. Erika supports them, too. Unfortunately, the drug companies are trying to get rid of them (they are losing $) and the fda is kissing Wyth's a$$ by entertaining the idea of banning these natural hormones.

There is a Dr's office in Tampa I plan to go to, soon as I get $. They check all your hormones with sensitive tests, but if you have symptoms of a certain deficiency, they will treat you for it.

Anyway, hope you all give it a look see. Nothing to lose

One more thing, when we are healthy 20 something, our hormone levels are a certain reading, each year they get lower or otherwise out of wack, this is W H Y we age. When we go to the doctor they read our numbers according to our age. I'm 43, so they judge my hormones by being normal? for a 43+ yr old. Cutting edge docs put your hormones where they were at their optimum numbers...doesn't that make more sense?

Does anyone remember who the member is that went to Texas for the hormone/allergy balance thingy? I want to know if she's still "doing great". I hope so. But, I read some testemonials from several of his former patients who claim that they left his office feeling wonderful and everything returned within a couple of weeks. Would be nice to get an update.

Speaking of S. Somers, I'm reading her book, "Eat, Cheat, and Lose Weight. It's an interesting program. It's all about combining foods a certain way so your body can process them better and boost your metabolism (she's written a couple of other books about this too).

So, I'm considering "Somersizing" for a while to see if that changes how I feel. One thing it's supposed to do is regulate insulin, which, you guessed it, is a hormone. Hmmmn.

It's Hampton, who went to see the Tx doc. The last time I heard she was stil doing great. I hope she doesn't mind my mentioning her.

I don't know about that doc, but I do know that as soon as you start having any minor symptom (such as not feeling well again) you are supposed to call the doc so they can tweak your doses. To be fair, I have read that from every doc I looked into, and SS's book also states this as very important.

This concept to me, makes the most sense as an explanation.

I cannot get my arms around the explanations of FMS, you have symptoms....nothing causes them....that doesn't make sense. When my car is sluggish, or rattling...THERE IS A CAUSE!! Who ever said to a car owner, it's just smoking and rattling, no reason.

Medical schools are still not 'up' on the times. We get more toxins in our body in one day, than people who died in the 60's did in their whole lives. Add to that all the medication we take, hormone laced food. We eat 8-9 pounds of preservatives every year, in fact when we die our bodies are not even decomposing naturally anymore.

For me, there is a doc in Tampa who follows the TS Wiley protocal on bio-identical hormones who I am going to this month (hopefully) The whole panal of testing, the medical consult, after diag consult and 1 months treatment package is $750.

If you need the estrogen or progesterone, or whichever, it's $37.50 for a month, each.

I am having great sucess with the treatment its been one month now and I still have no pain, no shakes, no ibs or any other symptom I had prior to going to texas. I also had extensive allergy testing and 60% of my pain was related to allergies. I am receiving treatment for both the allergies and the hormones. I have had to make some dosage adjustments during this time but every adjustment seems to solve whatever is coming up. If I start to feel the slightest amount of discomfort all I have to do is call them and they tell me which adjustments to make. I really feel that I am on the road to recovery and hope that others will take the chance and at least have their hormones and allegies checked. I will continue to keep you guys updated on my progress. If anyone has any questions just pm me and I will answer you the best I can. The website of the dr I saw is www.onlineallergycenter.com the site contains alot of information related to the treatment I have been receiving.

I am curious to know if anyone has used bioidentical hormones for relief of their fibromyalgia sypmptomes. I am a patient at Platt Medical Center in Rancho Mirage, CA (website drplatt.com). This practice specializes in the use of bioidentical hormones to control fibromyalgia, migraines, menopausal sypmptoms, weight control and a number of other conditions. Dr. Michael E. Platt has written a wonderful book called THE MIRACLE OF BIOIDENTICAL HORMONES, and in it he tells of how balancing a patient's hormones can alleviate most if not all of the pain of fibromyalgia. I know that in the year and a half I have been on progesterone and a small amount of testosterone, I have never felt better, have more energy than I did when I was 30 (I'm nearly 50), and I have been able to discontinue SIX medications! When you read the book, you will wonder if it's hype, it's not! I have no connection to this practice other than being a patient who is now convinced of how important hormonal balance is to everyone. Incidentally, Dr. Platt's office prescribes a VASTLY different protocol than is promoted in Suzanne Somer's book AGELESS.
