Fletch, your question got me wondering. so this is what I found.

Before meals: Your premeal blood glucose should be between 90 mg/dL and 130 mg/dL.

After meals: Your highest postmeal (1 to 2 hours after eating) blood glucose should be less than 180 mg/dL.

Your average blood sugar for the last 2–3 months (A1C): Your A1C should be less than 7%.

I am not sure if it is different for people according to the lab it was taken from but my doctor told me on the phone that anything over 6.0 for an A1C was considered a little higher than normal. Yes ideally 7.0 and below is good for someone who may already be a diabetic 1 or 2, I know this from my husband who is insulin dependant....but again the doctor ideally wants him below 6.0 even if he is type 1. As far as sugars go, with an OGTT, they don't like to see your sugars go up that high only after 1/2 hour or even an hour afterwards, the 121 I had after 2 hours was very normal and good. I was trying to make reference to the 202 and 178 number. I am also hypoglycemic, so that makes him more concerned about my sugars.

Also here is some more information about a OGTT, I am not sure if the tolerance test has different significance if you drink the solution and test compared to just eating a regular meal, but here is the information:

Another test called the oral glucose tolerance test may be performed instead. For this test, you will be asked, after fasting overnight, to drink a sugar-water solution. Your blood glucose levels will then be tested over several hours. In a person without diabetes, glucose levels rise and then fall quickly after drinking the solution. In a person with diabetes, blood glucose levels rise higher than normal and do not fall as quickly. A normal blood glucose reading two hours after drinking the solution is less than 140 mg/dl, and all readings between zero to two hours are less than 200 mg/dl.

Diabetes is diagnosed if your blood glucose levels are 200 mg/dl or higher.
