Well of course I received my lab work back today and the "diagnoses" I wanted it to be was there was something wrong with my thyroid, which was causing pain other than my Fibro. But of course, I am in the norm for the thyroid test, so it is back to Fibro with possible RA or connective nerve disorder. Honestly, when I go back to the doctor and ask him for pain medicane or a referral, I feel he is just not going to understand how bad off I am. I am trying to keep a journal of my pain and symptoms so he can see on a daily basis what I go through. I just really want answers and a way to cope...Ya know!

Also, my oral glucose test came back high, as well as my A1C, so I definately believe he is going to want to do something about this, whether it is dieting more or going on a diabetes medicane. Well thank you for letting me vent my frustrations...I never thought I would be upset about not getting a diagnoses of something bad... LOL, this dang FIBRO

I dont know what kind of thyroid problems you are having, but I am about to have half of my thyroid removed. I went in for biopsy and they could not get enough sample to get an answer of cancer or not. They can just see all of the masses on the left side of my thyroid. So I opted to just have it removed and tested will I am in the OR.

I just hope that your problems are not as complicated like mine.

I am here if you need to talk.

Dragonfly,

I'm sending positive vibes your way. May all go smoothly with your surgery. And I totally get what you're going through too Ali. I always want to assume there must be something else wrong with me when my Fibro. has me basically a worthless lump of pain.

I just finished reading The Fibromyalgia Advocate, and the doc. who wrote it has fibro. Anyway, one of her major sections is on a connection with blood sugar and fibro. (oh, yes, even that can be part of this funky condition). She finds that most people with fibro. have problems with blood sugar which can be controlled with diet.

The blood sugar thing hits home with me too. I am not diabetic, I am " pre-diabedic" lol. But I have to test my blood every few days. I have seen a connection in my mood and how I feel with my blood surgar. I have started a blood sugar diary and it had really shown a lot of connections.

Oh, and I have pre diabetic neuropothy(sp)

it just keeps on comming.

I am having the same issue. My AIC was 5.9 and my fasting blood sugars have been over 140. I am just trying to watch what I eat. "Pre-diabetic " I have never heard of that.

Yes they called me "pre-diabetic" also there for awhile, I have also heard that phrase, just a little bit pregnant too...I must agree, you are ither diabetic or non-diabetic. I did have a 2 hour OGTT recently and my sugars went as such:

Fasting 89

1/2 later 202 (this is very bad)

1 hr later 178 (still not good)

2 hrs later 121

Also, my A1C was 6.1. I guess 6.0 is normal and 6.1 would be considered diabetic. Since I cannot control my sugars with low carbs and exercise I imagine he will put me on some type of meds. My husband also is a diabetic, but he was diagnosed when he was 30 as a Type 1 (long story) but he will be on insulin for the rest of his life

readong what you both had to say I pulled out my last labs. ( I always ask for copys) my A1c was 5.8 so I dont understand why she said I was "pre-diabetic" and has me checking my sugar levels. guess I should have looked at that closer. Thanks

ok, now that I have looked more closely at my lab report I know why they are concerned about diabeties. my C-PEPTIDE levels are very high. I did a search on web md and thye say that is an indicator for type 2.
