I was wondering if anyone is taking or has taken Lyrica?

My Dr. prescribed it for me. I started taking it yesterday and he has me started at 50mg three times a day for the first week then second week 100mg three times a day then he wants me to call him and tell him how im feeling. If someone else is taking it can you maybe tell em what your doc started you at and wether or not you are still taking opioids?

Tafoya, my doctor started me on 50mg once a day. He told me I'd know within 6 days if it was going to help or not. It did not.

However, he did keep me on all my other meds at the same time, including vicodin and tramadol.

Hope this helps!

I took it and did the slow increase thing too. It made me too spacey so I stopped after about a year or so and changed meds. I did take tramadol, tylox, and some other narcotics while on it.

Tramadol is generic for ultram. It is the only non otc pain med that is not labeled an opiate and is not near as addictive for most people. I have been taking it for about 10 years for pain. I can't take ibuprofen or aspirin and have an allergy to tylenol so it was a good choice for aches and pains. Some people have really good luck taking it on its own and others need a little oxy- or hydro codone with it. It's a great drug if it works and is much easier on the liver and kidneys than opiates.

Yup, vicodin and tramadol are my goto combo. Neither one works that well for me by itself, but together they're terrific!

Be careful, though. Tramadol can make your cookie itch Smile And then it spreads out from there. I take a couple of allegra, though, and that takes care of THAT!

oh ok yeah I know what ultram is. i tried it a few years back. it didnt do much for me. I was taking it with 10/660 vicodin HP. The Vicodin always helped some but for some reason ther only non narcotic pain reliever that does anything at all for me it anti inflamitory relafen. it helps with the joint pain and swelling but thats about it. i hate to say it this way. but i seem to need the narcotic for any real pain relief. I do honestly wish they could discover or invent or whatever, a non narcotic pain reliever that worked as well as the narcotics do. I would be all over it since more than likely it wouldnt have a lot of the nasty side effects that the narc's do.

Tafoya, why would you be embarrassed about that?! Don't be. You need what you need for the pain. Period.

Heck, I may just ask my doctor to up my vicodin next time. I'm on 7.5, but 10's will probably work better and I may have to take less of them.

It's all about whatever will give you quality of life.
