Well, I'm into my third week of being on Savella. No serious side effects other than nausea (ick!). I know it can take up to 4-6 weeks for these medications to begin to take full effect, so I'm being patient but so far things are ok. I feel the same if not better than I did with Cymbalta/Lyrica. I'm a little disappointed in the lack of pain control so far. I'm still having to take Methadone to keep that in check. My depression seems to be "ok", but I find myself very irritable, which is usually not like me at all. However, all in all I think this medication is going to work a lot better for me. I'm just keeping the attitude that it will continue to improve over time and I'm hoping I can return back to working.

Is anyone else on Savella? How are you doing with it? Finding relief with your fibromyalgia?

Hi Luv!

That is very enlightening. I wish you the best. Thank you so much for keeping us informed. I am currently weaning myself off the Effexor XR and looking forward to starting the Savella.

I'm so happy hear people are having success with this med. No, I don't take it and don't plan on it in the near future for persoanl reasons however I still am very interested on how everyone does. Amazzon, I guess it goes without saying that I wish you luck too and you will let us know, right??

Savella still going well! I'm on my sixth week now, and I feel good. I feel like if I can keep doing what I'm doing, perhaps in a few months I could return to working. I really can't thank my psychiatrist enough for dealing with me for over the past year, my frustrations, my tears, my anger... and now we're finally finding what works. Medicine is an art. Some physicians just sketch and doodle... but other's create masterpieces.

This is my second week of Savella and well, I like the fact that coming off of the Effexor XR was sooooooo easy. I have been taking Effexor for years and I know how bad it is when ya miss a dose. However I am all the way back down to 75mg and I was at 225 a day! The Savella has taken the bad effects of the Effexor away. As for my FM pain I really do not see any difference so far, I am sick at my stomach, have headaches and chest pains. But I am still optimistic!

Hope you all have a great evening!

Christy

I am so sorry Christy that you are still feeling so bad. Maybe the Savella takes time to stabilize in your system, about 4 weeks minimum. I am happy to hear you are optimistic, this goes a long way. I sure hope the Savella works for you, I know you are ready to enjoy a life with less pain.

Much Love Sweetie,

Liz

ILuv, is it me or what, but I almost got up and hugged my doctor when he diagnosed me with Fibro and explained what my treatment plan would be. When my Endo was doing my ultrasound of my thyroid, he stated that my thyroid looked like swiss cheese and I had Hashimotos, I started crying and wanted to hug him for diagnosing me.

The relationships we have with these doctors are extremely intimate and they can raise so many mixed emotions that we are so vulnerable to them. I am glad I am not alone.

Stick with the Savella - it can take 4-6 weeks to get to a therapuetic level in your system, and not to mention. I'm on a dosage of 50mg twice a day, and then if it's not working as well we are going to go to 100mg twice a day. Luckily it seems that my meds are stabilizing and even though today is kind of a painful day, it's certainly nothing that can keep me feeling like I need to stay in bed. Smile

Hang in there!

Actually, when my rheumo diagnosed me with FM, he just mentioned it like "oh did you notice the sky is blue?". He didn't tell me what it was, what I would go through, nothing... and when I would call, confused, saying I just felt really really bad and didn't know what was wrong, I was given narcotics - and I don't even remember at the time if it was pain I was perceiving. It even got to the point where he said "I'm not making progress with you, you need to see another doctor" - and basically fired me as a patient. I was compliant and did everything he said.

It has been my psychiatrist, who is from Africa, who has taken the best care of me. Yeah I've been mad at him (and told him that), I've cried many times as he wrote notes for me to not work. He just seemed to know what is best. When I mentioned the Savella, he nodded and in his wonderful accent said "absolutely Karen, we'll get you started on that as soon as I get the samples". My shrink is treating my FM. And I couldn't thank him enough. He's gotten me back to thinking clearly, functioning, and sometimes, even laughing... Smile
