I just joined FMS group. I'm 19, going to college in San Diego and I am having such a hard time surviving, keeping up with the demands college is bringing. I'm such a type-A, perfectionist and I'm starting to realize that my hard work, strength and independence can't overcome my Fibro. I feel so down. Please, I need someone to tell me it gets better...

hey mona welcome to the group. fibro is very hard to deal with. it doesn't matter how old or young a person is. talk to your doc about what is going on and keep posting here. you may need to make adjustments and lighten your load a bit. at least for a while. and don't beat yourself up it doesn't help anything including the fibro. stress and anxiety can make the symptoms worse. hange in there you are not alone.

Mona, welcome to our family! Teri is right ~ fibro is hard to deal with and stress/anxiety only make it worse. One of the best things you can do for yourself as a Type-A personality is to give yourself permission to take care of your body. It's hard to do, but possible. The more you try to sweep the pain under the rug the more pain you will feel. Like Terri says, talk to your dr and let them know what you're going thru. I pray that you are able to get something to help relieve some of the pain.

Sending you gentle, loving hugs for a lower pain day.

Welcome Mona,

Soo glad you found us!!

Fibro is a hard thing to deal with. If you're going to school and trying your best...I give you a thumbs up!! However, sometimes...it's just not possible depending on how bad you are, how severe your pain gets and fatigue, etc, etc.

I'm sorry, but I can't tell you that it 'gets better' because in all reality (mine)...it doesn't. I can have 'good days' but other than that...I had to get myself out of the 'denial' stage and learn to live with it, deal with it and make the best life I could with it.

Please, stick with us. There are soo many wonderful friends here and soo much support, it's unbelievable! The information seems like it's endless and when you're having a bad day...you can come here and 'get it all out'. And, when you have a good day, you can come here and share it with all of us. For me...it's very uplifting to read about someone's good day! It gives me hope and makes me smile!

Like the others said, you're not alone and we're here for you!

Welcome Mona to the group. You will find lots of friends, support and ideas on here so come back often. It is a great group of people. Meanwhile, do what you can - that is all you can do. Don't overdo it because you will end up paying for it. I too used to be more of a perfectionist but now I have learned to realize that some things aren't as important as my health.

Welcome Mona to our little family here, you will find the most amazing, caring and understanding people here. i know that I have found alot of new friends, uplifting posts and people who listen and know what I am going through. I too am a perfectionist trying to atttend college and have had to learn that sometimes I just have to let things go and rest. No, it is not easy but doable.
May the sun bring you new energies by day,
May the moon softly restore you by night ,
May the rain wash away any worries you may have,
And the breeze blow new strength into your being,
And then, all the days of your life,
May you walk gently through the world, and know it’s beauty and yours.
