MDJunction to me

djfilippone"Before I found this site I felt so alone.  Watching my daughter struggle with IH and being treated like she had two heads from doctors.    I have plenty of family and friends but there was nobody that really knew what she was going through.
I not only have support and love from others who will listen and share their
story, but I have made some forever friends.  Having this support site does make a difference to many.

I used to take a medium hot shower. I loved it when my skin would turn light pink. Then I was squeaky clean. For several months now I have to turn the water cooler and cooler. My shower temp is now on the blue side of the shading scale. What the heck is that all about? It feels like the warm/hot water is burning me...like it's really hot or something. My hands don't seem to mind hot water but my back and middle parts go crazy. What now. A new fibro symptom. I can't stand stinky smells; I can't stand loud noises; I can't stand the warm shower water. That's a short list but >>> What's next?

I'm an Advocate

Katrab, I am so sorry that you are going through this. But yes, it is Fibro and this is just the beginning. I'm going to give you a name of a book for you to read that will help you to understand what you are going through now and what will come later and you will be prepared for it when it gets here. This Book really helped me, As I know it will help you.

"WHAT YOUR DOCTOR MAY NOT TELL YOU ABOUT FIBROMYALGIA" by R. PAUL ST AMAND M.D. AND CLAUDIA CRAIG MAREK. This book really got me prepared for what was to come.

I couldn't stand to take a shower because it hurt just like you do now. I did take warm baths just to soak. Not hot, just warm. You will find things that are good for you as you go along. Just remember, you are not alone, We and I am here to help get you through this. If you just want to talk, PM me and I will be here. Again, This is Normal. God Bless You, shortstuff

I only have that symptom now and then but I know alot of the members on here experience the same exact thing and I'm pretty sure it is the fibro, they'll be along to offer their opinions. Good luck, you'll be in my thoughts.

Thanks to both of you. I actually have had fibro for about 4 yrs or so now but I just thought that the intolerance to my usual shower water was really, really weird. My husband is intolerant of warm/hot water but he has MS. Gosh, wonder why many of the symptoms are so similar? Sometimes it really gets me thinking when I start to make comparisons between diseases and how similar many of them are. You have to wonder where in the heck did they come from? I always go with the conspiracy theory. I still say another country is testing viruses on us. They want to take us down -- slowly and painfully. Just kidding, but seriously...don't you folks ever really wonder about such things. Why are our bodies falling apar,t and it's in epidemic proportions.

Unsure This post was quite a while ago, but its the only one that matches Unsure how I feel even remotely. I'm going about 4 days before I get in there, partly because its so exhausting to go thru the temp. changes that are so uncomfortable, and the trying to get myself clean is exhausting, and I'm sweating by the time I should be clean and dry!! And I haven't even combed out my hair! Add the nausea with the meds 2x aday, and the headache in between, the house thats not getting clean, the clothes that are almost all dirty, I don't eat cause I don't have the energy to make something but I've still managed to gain 10lbs. per year for the past 10 years...add PTSD, anxiety attacks, and clinical depression. I swear that being a junkie would be a step up!

Are you able to put a stool or a chair in the shower? That might help. Also see if you can change the shower head settings to something softer or get a new shower head all together. Taking a shower can be really painful and a bath isn't really any easier. I hope something works out for you. Smile Keep your chin up

Many folks here will tell you they have problems with showers. I've read those who to take a shower is a 2 hour ordeal of exhaustion, or who the water falling on their skin is painful. Myself, I take a shower about twice a week, because it's just more trouble than it's worth most days. Luckily for me, hubs takes care of the laundry since it involves a coin op and a set of stairs.

It's summertime, you're going to always want a cooler shower because of the blasted heat right now. But yes, we get more sensitive to temperature changes and water and what not. Another gift of the FibroFairy.

A shower or bath grabs my intestinal fortitude and makes me nauseated, setting off severe pain. It's quite an ordeal, I know what you are saying. Disturbing at best. And to think of the primpy vain woman is have always been. Lupus must be the disease of vanity, or at least that's how it feels at times.
